Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Hi there! I am new here , but our surgery's are pretty close and I just wanted to Give you a little hope! First of all , I think that the scale stopping at 2 weeks is normal. Especially when It is a huge loss at first. I lost 17 pounds in my first week. I was shocked Then another 7 pounds the next week. During my third week the scale didn't budge and then the last few days it would even go up. I was shocked. And the more I talk to people The more I realize it is normal and our body is just saying....whoa ....wait a minute here. But the scale will continue to go down! It just has to, we can not eat nearly what we could . And our body won't absorb what it used to either. Unless we just go crazy and stretch out our pouch. As for the girlfriend, either she really just does not realize. Or she is very insensitive. Sounds like you really need to put yourself first and if moving is the best thing for you , I would do it . Where are you at now? I am from Toledo Ohio originally. So hearing Detroit, sounds like You are not too far from there. My husband is in the military and currently in Afghanistan. But we Are stationed in ton SC right now. Good luck and remember to put yourself first! You are worth it , and Will find someone new if that is what it has to come down to! Big Hugs Corrie -- week 3 Good Morning evrybody. Hope everyone is doing well.I am about to go into week 3 and I am stuck already at 284I cannot seem to break that barrier. Even the obstacles seem to become greater as far as my girlfriend and her eating choices. I thought when I confronted her on this she understood my situation about it not being the actual food that triggers my eating but the smell but I was wrong. She still goes out for s and brings it home and eats in front of me. Now she wants to go to her sisters in Detroit for the weekend and that is just one big food and drink fest that I am not ready to handle. I have just about had enough of this garbage. I have been looking for places to rent so I can get out of there because I feel if I stay I am setting myself up for failure. But if I move I will also put in a transfer to move back home to North Carolina. I tried to find someone last night to talk with because I was having issues with snackingafter her s dinner but could not find no one online. E ven went to the support group in yahoo chat what a joke that was. I am bound and determined to win this battle with food but sometimes it would be nice to have someone just to say it getting kinda hard can we talk just to take my mind off of food. Once I get back to work it wont be so bad because everybody there supports what I have done and they are even going to mae sure I get my lunche and drinks on time. But the girlfriend is the big issue, she is triggering the impulses to by doing what she is doing. Not to mention I had to quit smoking but she continues to smoke so that is just one more thing on my plate that I dont need to deal with. As you can tell I am getting pretty fed up. Quote

Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 284 is not a barrier. It's only a barrier if you think it is. You've probably hit a plateau and just need a few days or a week or so for things to stabilize and weight to start falling off again. While your girlfriend is out getting 's you should eat some high protein food. At week three you could fill up pretty quick on cottage cheese, yogurt, something like that. If the smell really turns you on that much then you should go for a walk. The weather here sucks so maybe go for a drive instead. If she can't take the hint from you leaving then consider something more permanent. If you don't want to go to Detroit for a food/drink fest then don't. I'm online about 16 hrs a day with some breaks in between that can last a few hours but usually only 1-2 feel free to chat me on yahoo if you want. Back to work? So this is only a weekend thing? You need to enroll in some weekend gym, yoga, etc classes or even educational ones. Find something that requires you invest time and energy so that you're not putting it towards eating or dealing with your friend. I don't know anything about smoking. I've never smoked. Second hand smoke kills. You should get out of there. Does she smoke inside? I'll bet the place smells lovely, not. There's no shame in getting fed up with nasty stuff. Good luck, Mike in GR > > Good Morning evrybody. Hope everyone is doing well.I am about to go > into week 3 and I am stuck already at 284I cannot seem to break that > barrier. Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Im sorry to hear your still going through this..... I wish people would see food as our disease just like heroin or alcohol for others. If you were an alcoholic and just came home from rehab three weeks ago and your girl went and got a six pack every night and drank it in front of you.........How long would you stay?? I hope not long. We need allot of support through all of this, I hope you find the strength to move on..... Mike T week 3 > Good Morning evrybody. Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Hey there! 3 weeks out here too. I agree with most, if the food bothers you that much, then get yourself out of the situation. Unfortunately, your GF should know better and have a better understanding of what you are going through. My husband and daughter are so good, they ask if things are ok to make infront of me. I cook too, which helps alot, but I still have that " full " feeling, so I just don't want to eat as much. Smoking? yeah that sucks. That would be the deciding factor for me. I had to quit in April for surgery and I do still crave it after surgery. Hang in there. It will get better. I wish you luck in your decisions. I am on Yahoo IM if you ever need to talk, mrsmolly06. Add me if you like (anyone can). Molly LAP RNY 10/4/06 318/288/150 > > Good Morning evrybody. Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Sorry things are so hard for you where she is concerned. I think I would be getting out of that relationship as well. It's a respect issue more than anything else. If Tim did that to me I'd be gone in a heartbeat. You deserve better! I'm sorry you couldn't find anyone online last night to talk to. I'm on AIM on occasion. If you ever see me on & need to talk just message me. That goes for anyone else as well. My AIM name is idispatch911. W 380/284/160 fishnitro06 wrote: > Good Morning evrybody. Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Great way to put it Mike. Food is just as much of an addiction. I grew up going to AA w/ my father. He's been sober for 24 years now. I learned a lot at those meetings. The most important thing about getting over an addiction is changing your " playmates & your playgrounds. " If you're still in a situation where that addiction can rear it's ugly head then you have to get out of it! Guest guest Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Don't worry about getting stuck right now. Your body is going through so many changes, the pounds will come off. As for your GF....it sounds like you've decided to end it. Not to sound cold, but that sounds like the best thing. If she doesn't care enough for you to try to not eat things in front of you that bother you, then she doesn't care enough for you to stay with. It's one thing if she doesn't know, but if you've told her and she does it anyway.....well you've got to take care of yourself first. So you live in Michigan, right? I'm in Howell, about an hour west of Detroit. I am usually at the computer at home and work, so feel free to email me or whatever if you need someone to listen to or talk to. in Howell. > > Good Morning evrybody.
