I joined SeattleFit (part of USAFit, which I highly recommend for anyone wanting to join a marathon training group) as a halfer, but since I was already doing the half mile lengths, I ended up doing the full training. On the weekend of July 4 there was no official meeting, but a group of us decided to go ahead and meet and run. Since they were all fulls and I was a halfer, I just decided to run the full six with them and I kept up with all of them and outpaced a few. Figured as long as it was still fun, I'd do the full training. > If you decide to do the full, that means we'll both be in training at > basically the same time. I've actually been My longest was a ten miler two Saturdays ago. Last Friday I did an 8. Today I have a 13 mile scheduled but hadn't planned to do it since tomorrow is the triathlon. Well now I'm sick so that's an excuse too, I guess, but I'm bumming because honestly...I would have loved to see how a half felt. My plan, though, is to sneak that in this week if I can. > pretty impressed with my pace on the long runs. My pace for the last two long runs is lower because Roy ran both of those with me and he runs those long ones at about a 12 minute mile pace. Although the Friday we got caught in the rain, the lightning gave us a few 9:30s! Amazing what a little motivation will do for one's pace! I also had a 17 in there, but I think Garmin messed up and lost the sats at some point because there is NO way we ran a 17 min mile. At that point I was pacing ahead of Roy and I walk faster than that. But on the training runs I generally do about a 10 minute mile. At Roy's pace, though, I can really just keep going and going and going. The 10 min pace is great but I can feel like I can do maybe only 3-4 more miles after. I guess we'll see come race day! I'm kind of with Bingham in that my goal is to finish the same day I start on this one. We'll take it from there! Tory

Guest guest
I've got 9 miles on deck for Sunday morning, but I hurt my toe earlier this week and haven't been able to wear a running shoe for the past few days. (I'm a klutz and fell going down some stairs and squarely hit my toe on the edge of a fridge.) My last run was Tuesday morning. It seems to be getting better (less swelling, not quite as painful), so I may try to do an easy 3-4 miles this evening or tomorrow. I hate it when I'm sick or hurt and can't get in all my scheduled runs each week. I was supposed to do Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday this week. I missed Thursday, so I'm hoping to get in today's so I'm not THAT off. I have to agree, Mr. Bingham has the right idea. As long as I finish the same day I start, I'll be fine. Guest guest
Owie! Isn't that frustrating when a stupid little TOE messes up your workouts? I have gotten a few toe infections. One night one was so painful it kept me awake and drove me out of bed to soak it and finally lance it. A stupid little toe. Not even my BIG toe. The next day I was working out and everyone was all concerned and I was embarassed to say that it was because of my stupid middle toe! Hope you're up and running again soon...hope I am too! Haha! > Re: TORY > > > I've got 9 miles on deck for Sunday morning, but I hurt my toe > earlier this week and haven't been able to wear a running shoe for > the past few days.
