Janet was told not to drive because the pump impedes with her driving. She

Larry

Glenn can't drive because he's physically not able and it's very

uncomfortable for him to sit straight up b/c of the fluid in his tummy, also.

But, with

all that DRANO newly pumped in his system, being weak and tired, I would be

afraid if Glenn drove. He also gets lightheaded once in a while...so that

wouldn't be good. No, I think I'll just keep him in the passenger seat the

first week of chemo...LOL

I'm very happy for the ones that CAN drive and continue to work and play,

(((((Ingrid ))))) extra extra hugs hun.

Joe drives himself to chemo and home , but its only maybe 15min from home if

that , and the onnnnnnly reason he drives is because I cant ( although I did

practice in an empty parking lot the other day , )

But I still go with him , if for nothing else the moral support , heck I

even go with him when he gets disconnected or even just to get his finger poked

for blood work!

But then again I am a stay at home mom so that helps tremendously.

I noticed the last treatment ( last monday) they gave him this new Anti

nausea med called Emends , wellll if they give them that again he AINT DRIVING .

I will call us a taxi if nothing else!!!! He ran through a stop sign !!! and

almost a red light on the way home!!!!!

The next day driving to the bank he just about ran into the median wall

thingy on the highway!!

He is to take Emends for three days , so he wont be driving those three days

, BUT it worrrrrks for the vomiting !!!!!! First time since January he hasnt

gotten sick with treatment!

Joe sleeps with Fanny too, you dont know how many times Ive wacked her

rolling over lol.

((((((Ingrid)))))))) again extra hugs, Joe said to thwack hubby with a iron

skillet when he is sleeping :)

Believe me there are days that I could just kill him!!!! Often wonder

how it would be if the shoe was on the other foot. I imagine he would

work it to the hilt and get all the attention he can. Just part of it I

guess. I go to chemo by myself every other week. It is an hour and 15

minute drive. My 13 year old son has been more support and help then

anything. I still make the meals and do the laundry and clean house. I

still take care of the horses and critters. But needless to say, this

just makes me want to live more so because I know that I have to to

take care of everything here. My husband cannot even handle the

checkbook to do the bills. But, still at least I know that others have

it worse. I still have my faith and my wonderful son. Ingrid

I am so glad that they finally found something to help with his

vomitting. Hey, the vomitting is the worst. I had some of that on my

second day of chemo last time. Not to much but it still bothered me.

Ussually don't get to much of that. Each round of chemo has been

diffierent and guess it was going to be the pukey one this time. LOL

But it was only on the second day. Stomach was more settled after

that. Yes, I wish so much my husband would be more supportive and be

there for me. But, no one can't have it all I guess. At least he

supports me finacially. Do not have to work and be on chemo. Now that

would be the pits I think. Find it difficult enough to do daily

chores without having to work a job too. I have always been the

strong one in our relationship. Everyone handles cancer differently.

My husband just does not handle my cancer very well. He does work

himself to death to make the ends meet. So I have to accept this. It

will get better. I have Faith that it will. Ingrid

Funny our cat does the same thing.......Janet has to hide the tubing from him.

He sleeps wrapped around her head. Great for her moral support though.

Kidding aside, I did have fish tanks once and the cats liked to

chew the air tubing. So am terrified that this might happen again. So

I keep the tummy pack on me.

I took Emends while I was doing the chemo and I found them very effective

but never had a driving problem. Keep up the good work.

What stage was your cancer? I have a choice too. I have stage II, T3,N0,M0.

I am 65, I am also diabetic. I am to have a PET scan next week. A CT scan

revealed no problems. I am questioning going thru what you are going thru. What

were the odds of a reoccurrence with your cancer? I think mine are 85 percent

that I will not get a reoccurrence within 5 years.

If I had a stage III, with a 50% chance of reoccurrence I would go with

chemo. With stage II, I have a 85% chance of no reoccurrence and I will take my

chances. Of course I will get checked every year for polyps and have a CEA

blood test and perhaps a PET scan to be sure. I am also 65 yrs old, which

changes the picture also. I have had a full life. My kids are grown.

Thanks for your reply.

My cancer was stage II, T2. My chances of having no recurrance in 5

years is 85.6%, if I took chemo it would only raise it by 3% so my Dr.

didn't feel it necessary to put me through all that for only a 3%

increase. Of course he said it was up to me and my husband if we

wanted the treatment he certainly wouldn't deny it to me, but we

decided to go w/ the Dr. and not take it. I go back every 3 months so

they are keeping a close watch on me if something should come up!

, My cancer was stage 111. Tumor had perforated the colon and one

lymph node was positive. My chance of reoccurrence was 50% without

chemo. The Onc did leave the choice to me. Of course it is always our

choice what to do!!!!! He really leaned towards the chemo if I wanted a

better chance. I did want to live so off to chemo. I am 49 years old

and about to do round 12 of Folfox next week. Just am dreading it.

Telling myself it is the last one hopefully, does not make it any

easier to go through with it. But again if I do have a reoccurrence at

least I can tell myself that I gave it my best shot. It is always your

choice what to do in your treatment. Ingrid

I don't blame you, I'm sure I would have taken it also. Can you tell

me what n0m0 is? I'm not familiar with that!

Also, I forgot to tell you when I had my surgery they also took out

50 lymph nodes that were all benign! they said that is quite alot, I

don't know!---

The N0 M0 means no lymph node involovement and no distant spread to

other organs. If you go to the links section in our group and then go

to (How is colon cancer staged), it will explain all this. It will

explain the different stages as well as the other critaria that goes

with each stage. Very good reading and very educational. Ingrid

Donelle, Thank YOU!!

I had finished my last chemo last Thursday. Treatment twelve. Am

feeling very tired this evening. Had a rough day trying to get my

regular chores done. Got up this morning and fed the horses and

turned them out. Wanted so bad to go lay down again. Fought that and

went to store and bought stuff to make dinner. Had to do laundry

then. By the time my husband came home I had dinner made but could

not tolerate the salad dressing in my soooo sore mouth. Gave up then.

Told my husband and son to clean stuff up when done and I needed to

lay down. Slept a couple of hours and now am just checking e-mail and

going to go lay down again. Guess the low blood counts are doing me

in. Blood count was too low to do last chemo but I insisited since I

wanted this done with. Did not want a shot to help with the blood

counts. Just thought time would make it better. Guess my stubornness

is now paying me back. (HUH) The docotr told me it might take a month

to feel better. Seems forever!!!!

I know Janet has it rougher then me. When I feel down I think how

awful she must be feeling. I have found myself meeting so many new

friends over this illiness and I just never knew all the suffering

till now. I Pray so hard each day that all would get better. Thak YOU

for all your support and Prayers. Ingrid

Ingrid...hope you are feeling much perkier by now. Sorry for taking so long

to get back to you...but I have been praying for you and everyone on this

list. Out of sight does NOT mean out of mind...in this case!!! If this is

your last chemo treatment, what happens next...do you know??
