Guest guest
SO I got my adrenal stress test back and it looks more hyper-adrenal that hypo-adrenal and wondered your input. Below are my tests results and from what i have googled. I am sorry I do not have my AI book today so I am not sure what AI says Morning 27.2 HIGH (normal range 12-24) noon 5.60 NORMAL (normal range 5-8.0) afternoon 3.1 LOW (normal range 4-7.0) nighttime 2.4 NORMAL (normal range 1-3.0) Cortisol SUM 38.3 NORMAL (normal range 23-42) DHEA-Saverage 2.35 LOW NORMAL (normal 2-10) Total Cortisol/DHEA Ratio 16.3 HIGH (normal 5.-6.0) So it looks like one problem is a high cortisol/DHEA ratio FROM GOOG:E SEARCH Upon searching google it seems like a high cortisol/dhea ratio may be due to higher levels of stress/poor sleep and can contribute to lowered gut immunity by affecting one mucosal lining along with other autoimmune problems including parasites, and viruses. Also a high cortisol/dhea ratio is consistent with panic attacks, memory problems and mood http://www.biodia.com/resources_value_of_adrenal_stress_testing.html http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2001/aug2001_report_dhea_01.html General recommended treatment seems to be DHEA oR DHEA/7-KETO and or Panax ginseng?? Any thoughts Thank you
Guest guest
where is the best place to get an adrenal stress test? thanks monique
Guest guest
I got mine from my nutritionist. so you do not need to go to a doctor. The most recent one was from Biohealth Diagnostic labs in San Diego http://www.biodia.com/resources_value_of_adrenal_stress_testing.html I had one done two years ago from Diagnos-Techs Inc in Washington State (phone ). The one from 2 years ago had more tests/measurements including ones for progesterone//Total salivary IgA (SIgA) Gliudin Ab and Insulin. So I am not sure if more tests are better or if these labs NOW all just do the ones that I had done Does anyone know for sure if all tests are better or iof is just the way all labs do it now?? I read in (I believe) the file section on this forum that there is an internet source for hydrocortisone if you have low adrenals. Otherwise I was under the impression that hydrocortisone had to be prescribed by a dr > > where is the best place to get an adrenal stress test? > > thanks > monique >

You do have a relatively normal cortisol curve, which is a good thing. Remember reference ranges are based on relatively healthy people. Bodies under stress need more cortisol. You don't necessarily have to get cortisol by taking HC. > Cortisol SUM 38.3 NORMAL (normal range 23-42) Reasonable total cortisol. You might need more at certain times. Do you happen to remember how you were feeling or what you were doing at the four time points or on this day overall? That information might be useful to take into account - eg, if you were sleeping at the noon or afternoon time point, maybe your body's demand for cortisol wasn't that high. > DHEA-Saverage 2.35 LOW NORMAL (normal 2-10) Low DHEA. Trying some DHEA and/or pregnenolone is a good idea. I would be a bit cautious with the dose, especially since you already know you have liver issues and you might have trouble metabolizing it - or might not. Your body can make DHEA and cortisol from pregnenolone. If you provide this, your body can make the decision of what you need. > Total Cortisol/DHEA Ratio 16.3 HIGH (normal 5.-6.0) > > So it looks like one problem is a high cortisol/DHEA ratio > > FROM GOOG:E SEARCH > > Upon searching google it seems like a high cortisol/dhea ratio may be > due to higher levels of stress/poor sleep and can contribute to lowered > gut immunity by affecting one mucosal lining along with other > autoimmune problems including parasites, and viruses. I would try DHEA and/or pregnenolone first. You can see what your doc suggests, too. I think there is some art to hormone balance. You will need to combine objective facts about what is supposed to be good for your situation with your experience of how it feels. Just my two cents, which you might want to discount some because I am still trying to get my hormones balanced :-) -- p.s. I have found this group to have an archive of messages that is full of interesting information about hormones, hormone balancing, etc: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/HormonesandHealth-Naturally/ When reading other groups (or websites or books) about hormones or other health information, you have to put it into a Cutler context, but there is useful information out there and the above group is one place to look for it. > Thank you > >

The least expensive way I found is to join www.canaryclub.org and order through them. I got the Diagnos-techs test that also measures dhea, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid hormones. --
Guest guest
hi stephanie thanks. are the Diagnos-techs tests more accurate for hormones than what i can order from my family doc? thanks monique
Guest guest
thanks michael. i got an ASI test done earlier this year where i had to spit on a piece of cotton 4x a day and then send them in. the results came back the lowest on the scale. so am on 10 mg cortef now and i take dhea cream daily. i wonder if there is something else i can be doing for my adrenals? monique
Guest guest
and like said Diagnos-techs seems like the one to use. I called my new dr's office who does not seem to charge a mark-up on these lab tests and they told me the cost was $99, so they seem to be cheaper and more information than bio-health which was $250 >frequent-dose-chelation , " " wrote: Do you mean the 4 times per day saliva test? > The least expensive way I found is to join www.canaryclub.org and > order through them. Those are the only two I have used. --
