Guest guest Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 I had 'chirping' in my ears for many years (like gold bangle bracelets jingling together). I had hearing tests and exams etc., but all was 'well'. We moved to a place with a community pool and I noticed that my right ear was holding water and it would take about 3 days to dry out and relieve the fullness (no pain). Whatever was in there was getting waterlogged and swollen, but there was no pain. I had that issue another few years because I forgot about it in between occurrences. One day, a doctor said ‘you’ve got wax in your ears’, that’s it, no plan, just a prolific pronouncement. It turns out that there was a little wax, but it was hiding the true problem. So, I set out to clean out my ears. I started with the drops and the little blue ear syringe and tried that for a few days. All that did was ‘fill’ my ear with liquid and I could barely hear out of the right one. I probably did that for a week with no results and since that was the recommended limit on the bottle, I moved on to peroxide. Every night my husband would pour a capful in each ear and I would lie on each side for 30 mins or so and then attempt removal with the syringe bulb. I’m sure I must have done that at least another week or more with no results. I was telling my sister about my saga and she said that you had to do the warm water syringe about 20 times for it to work and I had been stopping at 10-15. So the next Saturday morning, I set out to complete my mission. I had the peroxide poured in the two ears and then went to the sink with my blue bulb. I got to 10, 15, 20, 25 but was bound and determined not to give up. About warm water blast number 27, I hit paydirt. I wish I had taken a picture, but I could not believe what came pouring out of my ear. Yes, there was a little yellow/orange/brown fragment of wax, but the rest was like a rubber membrane that was just skin colored and very smooth. It must have been covering the entire ear drum. I did the second ear and got the same results. I had to call everyone in the house to come and look, that’s how amazing it was. I have not had the ‘chirping / jingling’ since and that was about 3 years ago. Hmmm, I’m thinking it might be time to try it again… Judy How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Guest guest Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 The ENT that I went to at time did a full cleansing of my ears, but, funny thing, there was not even a normal amt of wax in my ears that he said should probably have been there. Because I didn't have insurance, he was trying to refer me back to my primary care doc, who had referred me to him, lol, because, he said it's my thyroid, lol, yet he wouldn't treat it. I was already being treated for thyroid by the primary, who was so stubborn about increasing my med, that he kept me at a 5.5 TSH for those yrs, and would NEVER increase me, even at the advice of the ENT. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Jackie, I quickly put that COCKROACH vision OUT of my head — I was in the doctor’s office when the nurse told me AS SHE WAS cleaning my ears! I used to use the ear candles and got a big plug the first time then nothing after that --- I think they are kinda ‘hokey” really... And don’t do too much unless you have a LOT of stuff in there and then you should best go the water irrigation route or you can plug it up by softening it up and moving it around... Ears are tricky to say the least! Sue Oh MY GOSH!!!! Not sure I will ever feel a tickle in my ear the same ever again!
