Guest guest
Hi Everyone, We're feeling a little like the wind was let out of our sails. We were under the misconception that clubfoot was able to be seen and definitely occurs at 16 weeks - I have no idea why I thought this. Anyway, we had our 20 week u/s and the feet were straight. Emailed Dr. Ponseti with this info and he said it wasn't conclusive that another u/s at 26 would be needed to verify! UGH! We were on cloud nine when we saw two straight feet. Just thought I'd pass that tidbit of info along just in case anybody else was thinking what we were thinking... Guest guest
Hi Holly- I had an ultrasound at 20 weeks and again at 38 weeks and the clubfoot still wasn't picked up. My son was born at 40 weeks with a left clubfoot. I just think it is hard to tell sometimes with the ultrasound. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Clubfoot Can be Detected Anywhere Between >16-26 Weeks Gestation >Date: Thu, 26 Aug 2004 21:48:37 -0000 > >Hi Everyone, >We're feeling a little like the wind was let out of our sails. Guest guest
Holly, Try not to let it worry you.. Even though that is so, about the detection window, from all I have heard, the chances are still very low that it'll happen again. (something like 3%?) In the years I've been on these boards, I can only recall only one or two families who had more than one child with clubfoot, and that was when one of the parents also had clubfoot themselves. Try to put your mind at ease! Congratulations on the halfway point of your pregnancy! Enjoy it.. and Claire > Hi Everyone, > We're feeling a little like the wind was let out of our sails. Guest guest
oh dear, I hope I didn't say anything amiss.. If there are families with more than one child with clubfoot whom I've not yet gotten to know (I haven't been able to visit the board as much lately), maybe they have different info and/or perspective. Either way, though, Holly, I hope you are feeling OK and wish you continued good news as things progress. Take care! Best, , Claire's mom
Guest guest
Well not to burst any bubbles......haha......there is no club foot in my family except my two sons. But on the flip side of that, what will be will be so just enjoy your pregnancy. You know what to do if his little feet come crooked . It'll be OK either way. s. Guest guest
When I was 16 weeks pregnant I had an ultrasound and it was detected that Isabella had clubbed feet. I was shocked that we could see it that soon so clearly. It doesn't run in my family at all so it was a total shock. I never even heard of clubbed feet before. Then we had an ultrasound at 20 weeks, 34 weeks and it confirmed she had clubbed feet. > > Hi Everyone, > > We're feeling a little like the wind was let out of our sails. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. For the most part, we aren't overly anxious or worried. We're just a tad bit bummed hearing that the window is longer than we thought, and were so elated after our 20 week u/s - we thought we were " in the clear " so to speak. If we find out this one has clubfoot, we'll be fine with that, considering other abnormalities can be far worse than clubfoot. And besides, getting to see Dr. Ponseti a wee bit early wouldn't be all bad. Ultimately, we're hoping and praying for straight tootsies - I guess we'll find out soon enough. Again, thanks you so much for your support and kind words! They mean a lot to me Holly > > > Hi Everyone, > > > We're feeling a little like the wind was let out of our sails. > We > > > were under the misconception that clubfoot was able to be seen > and > > > definitely occurs at 16 weeks - I have no idea why I thought > this. > > > Anyway, we had our 20 week u/s and the feet were straight. > Emailed > > > Dr. Ponseti with this info and he said it wasn't conclusive that > > > another u/s at 26 would be needed to verify!
