Guest guest
hi! my dh and i both have started taking 2-3 tbsp of flaxseed that you grind up in a coffee grinder. from what i've read it is more potent than the oil and it's so much cheaper. i invested in a coffee grinder which came with a small container and so i'll grind a lid full and save it...you have to put the ground stuff in the refrigerator to keep it fresh, and you can't just eat the flax seed without grinding it up (or else it'll just come out the way it went in lol) it really is yummy. i really felt different in a great way after i started using it daily after about 4 days. my dh's ldl and hdl are not exactly where they should be and so i'm hoping that this will straighten things out. i've also heard that it helps people feel satiated and less hungry : ) i put it in my oatmeal and esp. like it in a chocolate smoothie...it tastes like graham cracker in the smoothie : ) i know that it's supposively high in points, BUT i don't count it and have lost probably 10 lbs. since i've started taking it 2 months ago. dh has lost about 20 : ) i definitely think it's a GREAT thing. : ) heidi 169/132/
Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Thanks for sharing that. I'm taking the oil (yes, I just pour it in a tablespoon and drink it...I'm hardcore) LOL I thought I might look into grinding the seeds like you were saying. I was wondering about the points... that tablespoon that I take is 4 points (!!!) and I do count it. I'd like to hear opinions on that....should I count those points or not? I wouldn't even know how to count the points from the seeds. Thanks for sharing, in CO Re: Flax Oil hi! my dh and i both have started taking 2-3 tbsp of flaxseed that you grind up in a coffee grinder. from what i've read it is more potent than the oil and it's so much cheaper. i invested in a coffee grinder which came with a small container and so i'll grind a lid full and save it...you have to put the ground stuff in the refrigerator to keep it fresh, and you can't just eat the flax seed without grinding it up (or else it'll just come out the way it went in lol) it really is yummy. i really felt different in a great way after i started using it daily after about 4 days. my dh's ldl and hdl are not exactly where they should be and so i'm hoping that this will straighten things out. i've also heard that it helps people feel satiated and less hungry : ) i put it in my oatmeal and esp. like it in a chocolate smoothie...it tastes like graham cracker in the smoothie : ) i know that it's supposively high in points, BUT i don't count it and have lost probably 10 lbs. since i've started taking it 2 months ago. dh has lost about 20 : ) i definitely think it's a GREAT thing. : ) heidi 169/132/

Guest guest
christi, hi : ) i'm not exactly sure it has anything to do with the flaxseed or not, BUT, whenever i know i'm doing something that is supposed to be good for me i tend to feel better almost immediately....it could be just a frame of mind, but i doubt it. i felt like i wasn't hungry after eating meals that i used it in, until the next meal...i was pretty satisfied. i also feel like i have more energy. i'm not exactly sure if i can put a finger on it, but my digestive tract felt less noticable to me lol. i've asked my dh the same question, and his response is the same...he has bouts of indigestion which he feels are significantly less since he's started using it. he also says he feels " better " but he's not sure if it's just b/c he's really been trying to eat better. it's definitely worth trying. i'm anxious to see what his cholesterol is the next time he gets it checked. i really only started using it b/c i heard that it was good for cholesterol and i thought if i started using it dh would too. he has and we've both lost and feel better. i've been considering using it to make muffins but haven't gotten that far yet. hope that helps!!! heidi : ) 169/133/135 http://www.berkeleywellness.com/html/ds/dsFlaxseed.php
