Guest guest
I wish you lived in San , Texas! :-) My little one is a preemie and we'd love to have someone watch him during the day so we don't have to put him in daycare right away. Having a very difficult time. You're wonderful for what you offer and I'm sure someone will snatch you up. Good for you. & Aidan (Aug 5th - bilateral cf) sallyllinton sallyllinton@...> wrote: Hello all, Want to offer to be a helping hand to any new parent in the lower pennisula of Michigan. Guest guest
Sally, It's so great what your offering. My mom also watches a little one with clubfoot as a result of her experice with my son Collin who has unilateral right clubfoot. I had met a local family who was having a problem finding proper daycare while their little one was going though casting and then in the DBB 23 hrs a day, ..so I spoke with my mom who watches her grandchildren why we work and she takes care of him too now. Guest guest
Hi , How is Aiden doing? I have been thinking of him and your family! I hope you don't mind me throwing my 2-cents in about something totally non clubfoot related...please take it at face value and don't think I am making any judgements You and your husband will want to be EXTREMELY cautious about what type of childcare setting Aiden goes too. With him being so premature he will be at a VERY high risk for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). This infection is very serious and can be life threatening to a preemie. My twins were considered very high risk despite the fact that I am a SAHM and they were quite sheltered from the outside world during their first winter. Despite our precautions and even both of them being treated with Synargis shots (an RSV preventitive medication), Owen had bronchiolitis twice that first winter. He came very close to being hospitalized. Then until he was 4 1/2, he had bronchiolitis at least twice each winter and is now considered to be at a higher risk for asthma. Anyway, RSV is very contagious and can be easily spread in a childcare setting. A regular cold to another infant, child or even adult can have serious effects on a preemie. I can understand if you are in a situation where staying home is not an option -- believe me, it has been difficult for us! -- but if hiring a nanny is a possiblilty for you (even just for this first winter), I would highly recommend it Otherwise, just be on top of your pediatrician about getting Aiden Synargis shots every month and also make sure your childcare providers are aware of his highrisk for infection. Sorry again if I am putting my 2-cents where it doesn't belong. Hope I have simply been a help. Guest guest
That is so sweet of you, unfortunately we live in Ky. It must be hard for you, your son/daughter and grandson going through this so far away from you. It's so supportive of you to research the condition with them. And then to volunteer to help/be support to someone who lives close to you. Guest guest
, Sorry that I cant be there to help you. I know that my daughter is having a hard time because she is so far from family. She is a stay at home mom & she supplies child care to other military moms. Her husband is stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. I just want to be helpful. So am hoping that a michigan parent will contact me. Good Luck with Aidan - do what the doctor says - continue to look for support in any way that you can. Guest guest
Thanks Marilouise for your concern. Believe me, I've read all about it and am extremely worried. I've called everyone I can think of to try and find someone to stay at home w/him during the day. I've already talked to the hospital about how to get these shots started as he'll probably be leaving the hospital in the middle of RSV season. Thanks again for the information, I appreciate the FYI. Aidan, is still fighting every day. He has good days and bad, it's been a rollercoaster. Having to deal with his clubfeet after he's realeased doesn't make it any easier. However, as I've already waited 2 months for treatment, I'm thinking I'm going to have to start that as soon as he can leave the hospital. Thanks again for thinking of us. Guest guest
Hi , Glad to hear you are on top of it already I know how hard it is to ride the NICU roller coaster! As others have said, wait until Aiden comes home to start treating his feet -- you have time. I will continue to pray for him that his good days outnumber his bad and he comes home to his mama and daddy and big brother soon Marilouise > > Hello all, > > > > Want to offer to be a helping hand to any new parent in the lower > > pennisula of Michigan. > > > > I have a grandson with bilateral club foot in California, so know > > the experience that you are going through. Guest guest
Hello Courtenay, Which part of Michigan are you from? I live in the DeWitt area (north of Lansing). My grandson was born on 06-05-04 with bilateral club feet. He has had his tendon snipped and is in the " 3 week " cast. He gets it removed on September 3rd. Then they will be starting the shoes and brace. He lives in CA, so I can't be there to help, but would love to help someone close by.
