markell shoes without strap

At one point our shoe store people gave us a pair of shoes that had been

sitting on the shelf. (usually they had to order them for us). They were the

first ones I had seen without a strap. We were able to use them successfully

at that point because our daughter had been wearing the shoes for awhile, so

they're weren't apt to come off. Her heel was properly formed by then.

In the beginning, the shoes can come off a lot because the heel isn't

properly formed. It can be maddening. Then one day you notice that you've

only had to fix them a few times that day and eventually you realize they

haven't fallen off all day and you wonder why... THEN you find this list and

find out the reason!

It's too bad that there's such a disconnect between doctors and patients

that most doctors outside of Iowa do not provide a tip sheet (like the ones

parents have compiled over the years to help other parents...) Perhaps the

doctors do not know that the shoes fall off a lot in the beginning, which is

not a good sign. Otherwise, I wish they would be more forthcoming with

information about what to expect...

Hope this helps! Joanne W. mom to " Big " Zoe (3-25-01, right clubfoot)

PS Although Zoe isn't wearing the shoes any more, I do want to at least

" lurk " in order to keep up with the latest developments and issues in order

to stay current. I don't post as often because there are so many new people

who are more consistent about responding, so I don't feel the need to. Did

anyone notice that there were over 1,000 messages posted in JULY? Wow.

I think we understand Joanne. I do miss however your tips post, that used

to show up regularly here. I know it's in the files section, but I liked

seeing it on the messages. It helpd me a lot, I think that's where I found

the knots tips right?

Thanks for all your hard work with this list over the years. We are so

grateful to the parents who have older children - without you this list

would never have been~!
