Guest guest
That's great . Who are you flying with? I'm glad that things are working out for you and Tyler with Dr. Dobbs. He is a great doctor! Can you give me the information for Youthbridge? We have to make another trip in October for a check up. Since we are from Texas we will probably have to stay overnight at least one night. Thanks! Kathy and Lyssa (8/7/03, DBB 12hr/day) littlebrat2002 littlebrat2002@...> wrote: I am so excited. It's been kinda fun flying down there but I am ready to stay home for awhile. The Youthbridge is about 20 min from Shriner's. It just opened up in April. The man that took me home today was the director of transportation for the Shriner's and he said that they are pretty excited about Youthbridge opening cause most of the Mc houses fill up so quick they can never get anyone in. Guest guest
Well I am not sure. He is using it on Tyler because he thinks it will work better on his atypical cf. Guest guest
Hi , Sorry haven't been on in awhile. Been super busy. I am so glad that everything is going so well with Dr.Dobbs. You know he told me about the new brace and described it to me but I didn't see a prototype because he wasn't done with it yet. That is so cool you got to actually see it. I hope I will when I go up there in November. I think it might work better then the standard bar because the kids can somewhat move their feet up and down. I am glad you got with wings of hope. It just sound like everything is going well. When does he get the tenotomy? Maybe we can see each other soon. Guest guest
, Know what you mean about being busy ...been there myself lol have 3 kids so I stay pretty busy. Tyler has his tenotomy next Friday. Can't wait til he is out of the casts again. Dr. Dobbs is great! He is such a nice doctor and he really seems to care. He took the time to talk to me before Tyler's casting and after to show me the prototype. The brace is going to be nice I think. He says they will have Tyler in it when he gets his last casts off. Wings of Hope has been a life saver! And the people are so nice. Things have been going so well I thank God everyday for it too. I just can't believe I actually flew this Friday, didn't realize it was Friday the 13th til the guy that was driving me to the airport to go home told me lol. I said THANKS! lol Didn't need to know that right at that moment.hehe But we got home just fine. It would be nice to meet up sometime. WIll let you know when we will be there after the tenotomy. Do you know if they have to stay overnight for that? Since we are from so far away. Not sure how they do that and didn't think to ask the doc. Don't think that you have to but was wondering. Guest guest
The new brace that Dr. Dobbs has come up with has springs attached to the bar to allow the child to flex their feet forward and backward and is attached to the mitchell shoes but they have a hole cut in the back of the heel and a foam insert placed in the shoe to help from getting the blisters on the back of the foot. Think that they are going to work better then the regular dbb, the only thing I am worried about is duribility because my little fella is pretty rough on things and I am not sure if they are going to hold up to him lol. I am excited to try them out though cause I know that the regular shoes and brace never worked with Tyler. Guest guest
, When Isabella had her tenotomy we didn't stay overnight, but she had a different ponseti doctor than because we lived closer to Kansas City. So I don't know how Dr.Dobbs does it but I wouldn't think he would have to. We go back on November 18th. Guest guest
When Shalom had her Tenotomy by Dr. Dobbs we had to stay over night the first night. Her surgery was first thing in the morning and we had to be available to be visited by the Anaesthetist. After the surgery we left, I can't remember. I think we left the day after. I seem to remember being stuck at hospital because my son broke his arm while I was away. Anyway, I do know that when she had the surgery Dr. Dobbs told me he prefers to do the surgery in the O.R. as apossed to in the office under a local. Some Drs. do that with good success, but not on the older children who might squirm. and Shalom , When Isabella had her tenotomy we didn't stay overnight, but she had a different ponseti doctor than because we lived closer to Kansas City.
