Guest guest
Your face! LOL!!!! You're a nut! Bare footed, his feet look noticably " funny " , with their size, shape and all that ankle skin. He starts 1st grade now and I've always worried other kids would pick fun at him as they got older (and meaner). Then I find out the girl he's been in love with for three years (of head start and Kinderarten) told her Mom, " has funny looking feet " .....made me sad for the kid, you don't realize how much he's in love with her, he's been collecting catalogs since he was 3 years old picking out all the things he wants to buy for her when they get married, including the wedding dress, rings, appliances, cars, gifts.......*sigh* s. That's funny that this should come up as I was just noticing the other day how Evan's baggy skin in the lower ankle area has completely tightened up. The skin there is a little bit lined but all the excess is gone. He is four. I have been so focussed in on watching for relapse clues etc. that I hadn't even noticed it was gone. It's odd that it hasn't disappeared on your 6 year old, but I guess everyone's skin is different and like someone else mentioned, it probably depends how much was there in the first place. So keep watching...I think it'll go away eventually. and Evan (8-17-00 bcf) > >This post is very similar to an eariler post. We hate these > >shoes!!! Guest guest
I can't recall when the extra skin disappeared with Jakob. In Kindergarten last year, I don't think anyone ever paid attention to his feet. Of course, I made him wear tennis shoes all but the last day since they have better support for his feet, but he says no one ever made fun of his feet. Another solution might be to hook up with another clubfoot child. Jakob has had a crush on Rose (Joy's daughter) for over 2 years now. He keeps telling us that he's going to take Rose on a date to O''s (a local Tex-Mex restaurant) and no parents are allowed. Too bad Rose is in Wisconsin and we're in Iowa City Number23 wrote: > Your face! LOL!!!! Guest guest
Isn't that the truth about loving their feet? I'm always rubbing 's and Everett's little feet. is not a heavy child, but he's muscular and stout which makes his skinny calves look very out of place. If I put him in long shorts it's not noticable much, but in short that ride higher above the knee his calves really look strange compared to the rest of his stout body frame. But like you said about your child, also talks freely about his feet, having the operation on them, etc. When mom got her foster baby about a week or so ago, bless his heart, asked, " When does he get his casts on and have to wear the brace? " because had all that, and now his baby brother has all that. He thought club feet were something ALL babies went through. s. Re: Baggy skin and wrinkles (sounds like my face!!!) Well, even though Evan's baggy skin has disappeared, his feet and lower legs are still funny looking as well. His calf is straight up and down and very skinny. Of course, he is totally skinny all over so it doesn't stand out that much. His feet look quite flat footed and his heel kindof sticks out farther in the back than a normal foot. I worry too about other kids saying things to him. At this point he's pretty unconcerned. He has no trouble telling people he was born with " crooked feet " and that the doctors fixed them. I sure hope he doesn't become embarrassed about it as time goes on. If he could only know how much we LOOOVVE those dear little feet that walk properly. 8) > > >This post is very similar to an eariler post. We hate these > > >shoes!!! Guest guest
That's so cute about thinking all babies will need casts. Evan thinks everyone has something crooked. His cousin had birth complications (she's fine now) but she had a crooked neck for awhile, then his crooked feet, and I have a bad back. Awhile ago Evan was looking at his baby sis and asked, " Mommy, what does have that's crooked? " I admire your strength in going through all this twice. Course--what else can you do? 8) And yes, I am constantly rubbing his feet. Drives him nuts!!! > > > >This post is very similar to an eariler post. We hate these > > > >shoes!!! Guest guest
Just out of curiosity I'd like to see the stats on the odds of having multiple cf babies - and how many have been born to the same parent(s). I think I've heard of one mother with 4 cf babies. Evidently I carry the gene. s. Re: Baggy skin and wrinkles (sounds like my face!!!) That's so cute about thinking all babies will need casts.
