It really *is* more deep and kabbalistic than that, involving the powerful energies eminating from our highest point (the head) which need to be covered once we marry. TBH even I don't perfectly understand it, only know that we have to do it. If it was only to hide our beauty from other men we would walk around in all enveloping black robes like some Muslim women do but we don't. We dress modestly but attractively, wear makeup and jewellery and all the trappings of beauty. In fact it is actively discouraged to dress like a slob, it is considered improper and almost an insult against God if we don't make the best of ourselves and look attractive.
