Guest guest
Sharon, I'm sorry to hear that 's adjustment has been so rough. My son Jakob went into the DBB at 8 weeks old. He's now 6 1/2 and had been out of it for almost 3 years. My first question would be does cry only while you are putting the DBB on or does he cry for some time after it's on and you've picked him up? With Jakob, he would also cry when we put the brace (this is how we refer to the DBB) on, but would quickly calm down once I picked him up. If I recall correctly, Jakob cried when we put it on or took it off for a few months. Like I said though, he would quickly calm down once he was picked up. I personally think he just didn't like his feet messed with much For about the first month or month and a half, it took both my husband and myself to put the brace on. I would be doing the job of putting the brace on while my husband would talk to Jakob and try to distract him. A second set of questions would be who treated and what size shoes doe he have on the DBB? Sometimes, if there is extreme fussiness - a real painful sounding cry, the shoes may not be fitting correctly and causing pain. Also, sometimes, some doctors go to the DBB a bit early before full correction is achieved. I'm not saying this is the case with , but we would want to make sure so that he could be helped as soon as possible. sharon kulp wrote: > Hello > > My son, , is 9 weeks old (two months)...he was placed in his DBB > this past Friday! Guest guest
Hi Sharon, has a curled under pinky toe too and it has not changed and she is now almost 11 months. I have the same concern but she is not yet walking so I can't say yet what the impact will be. Anytime her foot is bare (not lately since she is being recasted) I massage her foot and spend a little extra time with her toe. Don't know if it's doing any good but it make me feel better Good luck!
