What worries me though is this seems to be the type of doctor who is/will

" modify " Dr. Ponseti's Method. I'm not here to bash the doctor, obviously I

don't know her or her work, etc., it's just concerning to me to call herself a

Ponseti Method dr. but she's not trained, nor willing to train for his true

method.

Re: Fw: Ponseti Doctor?

I think her tone sounds a little defensive....which I think is pretty

normal...especially with doctors who have not received any formal

training in the method.

not need to spend time with Ponseti as the principles are basic to

our practice of medicine.

An interesting thing...The other day I was in for my annual checkup

at my ob/gyn's and we got discussing Evan's birth which led to the

cf...which led me right onto my soapbox about the Ponseti method. I

was just telling her that if she ever sees any of those little cf

feet appear again in the delivery room exactly where she should

advise the parents to go etc. She is a young woman, probably mid-

thirties, and she WENT to the U of Iowa. When she did her orthopedic

rotation the Ponseti method was discussed as a new, alternative kind

of therapy/treatment. Can you imagine? Right at the U of Iowa? I

assured her the method is not new and ranted just one more minute

about the awful stories I hear on this board about kiddoes treated

incorrectly. Although I should know better, I continue to be amazed

that this is so controversial. Unbelieveable. I hope my message got

through to her--I think it did. She's a wonderful dr. I wish I'd

have told her to feel free to give my number to any parents in " our

boat " . Maybe I should call her and do that. We remain eternally

grateful to our pediatrician who did know exactly where to send us.
