I wanted (for the first time since surgery) to eat everything in sight. My surgery was 1/21/03. i am 5 wks out tomorrow. up to 4 weeks out, you are on liquids and soft foods starting week 4. I have done this for about 2 weeks now. Egg salad, tuna, shakes, beans mashed up, potatos.. cream soups, protein shakes. This morning........ I was able to finish my whole 10 oz protein shake @ one sitting (over 30 minutes). Then I took an early lunch and went to Taco Bell to get beans/cheese. Never got that!!! I got one hardshell beef taco, no lettuce or tomato. I went back to work and slowly ate the whole thing minus one bite. Yes, I felt full, but I did NOT feel nor did I get sick. THIS SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME! Why on Earth was I able to eat that?!!? I feel fine. No dumping, no upset stomach. This is like the first " food " I have had. And, RED MEAT ground up to boot>>???? I am going to see my surgeon for 6 wk follow up on Monday. In my head, I am saying " ok, I am the one person this isn't going to work for " . I haven't lost an ounce in almost 2 weeks. I passed by 's and was tempted by a burger BUT I resisted the temptation. I HOPE I can always resist. I do crave lobster and I may try it very soon.
