Guest guest
Hi Judy, My name is Juli I was diagonsed with stage 3b breast cancer with nodes involved. This happened in June 06. I was told I needed a port, and then your same A/C chemo - even before they could operate because my case was so advanced. I had 4 rounds. My worse problem was the nausea - any smell was horrific (food) and constipation. I would totally reccomend u ask your onc for a day (diff ones) and night nausea medicine and his opinion about a laxative. The chemo is bad for constipation as well as the pain meds. I lost all my hair right before my 2nd round. I still had a few eyelashes and eyebrows left - I found a good website for a wig and eyebrow fill-in type liner- It's called TLC All my Blessings for you, dear Sister Juli-Dallas > > I was just told I have to have CHEMO. THe A/C is no fun!!!! be sure to drink lots of water before your treatments and after. Make sure they give you the nausea pill to take an hr before each treatment, They are expensive but the help!!! I assume you will have to do the nuelesta shot the day after each treatment. You will experience bone and muscle pain for sure. Everyone is different some ladies don't seem to have that much trouble with the A/C, Hope you are one of them!!! The first Treatment isn't to bad but after that it gets worse. And you will lose your hair!!! it usually starts falling out 14 days after the first treatment!!! Just make sure you get plenty of rest and like I said drink lots of fluids!!! We are all here for you!!! Good luck Steph
Guest guest
Judy, I had CMF so can't help much. I do know that some of the ladies say to suck on ice while getting the A/C it helps prevent mouth sores. Also be sure to get some anti nausea drugs. Remember everyone is different. You may have no problems or just a few or possibly more. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Judy, I had 6 rounds of ac plus taxotere. The new anti nauseau drugs are great...emend and aloxi. I did not throw up once. I would get a neulasta shot 24 hours after chemo and that made a big difference for my counts (white and red cell counts) and energy level. It is certainly not fun but not the worst thing in the world either. I had a head shaving party with my friends 10 days after my first chemo, we had a blast and mine was long enough to donate to locks for love. I am now 2 weeks past my last chemo and actually am getting sideburns.... > > I was just told I have to have CHEMO. I am stressing/bumming badly. > I am to have 4 treatments. Guest guest
Judy Do not get overly anxious with the dizziness. I had alot of that while on chemo. I also have vertigo which came out of no where. It is not a fun thing to have. I have had it for about 5 yrs now. It comes and goes. I had a cat scan because I thought maybe I had a recurrece in and it was in the brain but Thank the Good Lord above I am clear! Angel Hugs Judy ( NJ ) > > > > I was just told I have to have CHEMO. Guest guest
Judy - Hang in there you will be fine! Like I said, I had the dizziness and it turned out to be Vertigo. Not fun thing to have! I have had it off and on for over 5 yrs now. There are meds to help though. One thing that sets it off is artificial sweetners! Do not know why but it does! Guest guest
Thank you Judy! I sure appreciate all the info I am getting from my sisters here! Re: Re: Went to ONC today HI Judy I had the Taxol my second time around which you lose you hair as well. After the first treatment my hair started to fall out. Before I started my chemo, I had hair below my waist, i cut it to my shoulders. Then 2 weeks later I started the chemo. When it started to fall out it began to hurt. My Dr. said it was normal to hurt because the pores were open. He advised me to shave it off. I was scared to death. So one night I had a wine/hair cutting party with my friends and me. How funny we had to drink to get the nerve to cut my hair. Well to make a long story short not one of my friends could cut my hair! They were all afraid that I would be mad at them. My hair was my everything!! We even called one of my friends husbands to come over and do it. He came but he chickened out too! Well if anything, we had a lot of laughs that night! The next day I called my girl who did my wig! I went there and she shaved my head and by Golly -it felt 100% better, No more pain in my head! Another word of advice, get a wig BEFORE you lose you hair. This way they can match the color of your hair and measure etc. Good Luck Sweety - You will be FINE! Guest guest
Hey Judy... My family doc said this is vertigo. I haven't een started chemo yet but the ONC wants it checked to see if it is in my brain. I continue to pray it is just vertigo! Guest guest
I had 4 cycles of AC followed by 4 cycles of Taxol (I am stage IIIA, node +, grade 3). My onc. gave me Emend which helped to keep the nausea in check. I also drank lots and lots of water and got a lot of rest. I also chewed ice when I got some mouth sores. Overall my experience with AC wasn't too bad...I wish you the best of luck! Hugs! > > I was just told I have to have CHEMO. I am stressing/bumming badly. > I am to have 4 treatments. Guest guest
I cannot ride in the backseat of a car to this day without getting nauseaus but the drugs are so good I was fine. After the third chemo I got a bit queasy during chemo so I took a phengran and that handled it. There is so much of this that is awful I was determined to find the fun things (or make them fun) like the head shaving party. I also bought a pair of outrageous socks (lime green striped fuzzy knee socks) and wore them to every chemo. After the effects of my last chemo wore off my friends and I had a bonfire and burned them, ceremoniously! > > > > I was just told I have to have CHEMO. Guest guest
Dear Judy, I had Adriamycin and cytoxin. Your hair if it is going to thin or fall out will very soon. How many treatmetns are they going to give of the A and C? I had 8 and then had a three week vacation and they gave me 8 weeks of Taxol 1X per week. I felt better when I took it and my hair started coming back in. I hope this helps even though i am slow. Cindy Oklahoma City Jude wrote: I was just told I have to have CHEMO.
