I will see what I can find but the information is still pretty sketchy right

now. When Dr Ponseti diagnosed Kai with plantaris he thought that the actual

percentage was less than 1% Because it is still early in the research about it,

there are not really any FIRM numbers known. Last year when I talked to Dr

Colburn he said he said this to me: we have treated more than 100 feet with this

method. I have seen plantaris twice before

That would mean that his percentages last year were less than 2%

Dr Mosca at the same time said he had 4 patients with it and had seen it before

at least once (and ended up using surgery to correct it). I don't know how many

feet he had treated at the time, but if we estimate a similar number as Dr

Colburn (and Dr Mosca is not restricted by an insurace plan, so it is feasable)

you are still looking at less that 5% Dr son advised me of 3 cases she has

treated (2 at that time, one recently), and although I do not know how many feet

she has treated, she has been practicing for several years, so it is likely her

numbers are around 3-4%

So, take of all that what you will, but it really does look like less that 5%

overall.

Re: If someone could briefly explain to me....

Angel,

Will you check your information for the exact percentage on atypical

clubfeet? Thats info that my family and I would really like to have.

Thanks in advance,

Lori

Btw, Elijah (4 months) and I are dealing with atypical clubfoot due

to plantar tendon problems too!
