Cigna

HI! I wanted to respond to your e-mail regarding Cigna. We have Cigna and we have a high deductible but once our deductible was met, they covered 80%. I was very happy with that. What I can tell you is that Cigna tends to be a bit different in their terminology...the helmets are NOT found under "durable medical equipment". Cigna calls it--External Prostetics--custom molding helmet. I know this isn't much but I hope it helps a bit. Good Luck to you!~Kim

Cigna

Hi, My son was just diagnosed with positional plagiocephaly w/ facial asymmetry and tortocolis but our insurance provider (Cigna) denied his DOC Band due to exclusion. They will only cover post operatively. Has anyone had any luck with overturning this decision with Cigna specifically?I'm a mess to begin with due to the immense guilt of screwing up my son and now have to go into battle with an insurance carrier... he's just 3 months old...Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, we have been, are and will continue to be first contact portal of entry

physician types which means patients can come directly to us. However, this

is not the same as being a primary care physician who can triage as well as

treat the 60 most common conditions presenting to a primary care office.

The medical home model has a primary care physician type that does this

initial triage of each new patient with in the CCO using the medical home

model following that the consumer can go directly to the provider in the

medical home that they wish and can best treat their particular issue on

that particular visit(s)....not sure I made that clear....Vern

Brad:

As I stated in a post some time ago, everything is moving toward a medical

home model with a gatekeeper/overseer (most likely a RN or PA) who will have

the authority to steer patients through the " system. " The national

associations (Vern!) should be hot on this, since it's a new way for the

medical profession to steer our patients away from us. The overseer will

simply send the patient to PT, etc., first, leaving us as the last resort.

Which, I guess, isn't exactly a new position for us. :-)

I had a patient today tell me that she was contacted by Cigna and given some

type of 'back pain packet'.

A representative called her and told her a nurse could work with her on her

back pain and that " not many people go to chiropractors " .  Evidently the

conversation was very derogatory towards chiropractors.

I asked her to write a letter explaining exactly what had happened.  Where

should I send such a complaint letter?  OBCE?

Thanks.

Is this part of that "health coach" program that private ins are moving toward? (and that chiropractors were invited to participate in?). Or, is this something different? If it is that, looks like we need to be involved so we can "steer" patients toward chiro!! (:-)RRSent from my iPadOn Feb 21, 2012, at 4:31 PM, Brad Farra <bpfarra@...> wrote:
