Guest guest
Hi, W-sitting is when the rear is on the ground, knees out in front of the body and the feet are splade out toward the back. If you look down on one sitting this way it looks like a " W. " There is some debate whether this is harmful or not for the hips. Our daughter had hip displasia, so we discourage this type of sitting. At one time there was a photo of this in the " photo " section of the list. Guest guest
It is my understanding that W sitting doesnt really harm a child with clubfoot, but a child that has tibial or femoral torsion really should not do it because it helps contribute to the torsion. I have Kai with clubfoot that none of the doctors ever say anything about not letting him W sit, but I also have Arica who has metatarsus adductus and both tibial and femoral torsion (talk about being REAL pigeon toed!) and both Dr Mosca and her local ortho Dr Kennedy said to absolutely not let her W sit.
