Dh and I were doing some painting and he remarked on the dust and dirt

covering the skirting boards. " Don't you ever clean the skirting

boards! " he yelled. After I picked myself off the floor from laughing

so much I suddenly thought, hey, maybe I'm the only one who doesn't

clean the skirting boards, perhaps I'm a terrible " housewife " . So,

does anybody else clean their skirting boards....................?

I have someone to do my cleaning *blush* but in the days when I

didn't, I became very obsessive about my skirting boards, also judged

a paid cleaner by whether or not she cleaned them.

I also have this kind of banistair which has curly ironwork going down

the stairs..it's a devil to clean, but I once had a visitor who wiped

her finger along the curly bits and it came off black...

Only before painting - the ones in the loo get cleaned if I've been

staring at them!

Not if I can help it. My old flat mate used to have a thing about

cleaning them though and used to run through the flat regularly

bemoaning the state of the skirting and how I never cleaned it. I'd

usually mumble something along the lines of 'can't be a***ed' through

a mouthful of chocolate. Life is too short!!

PAH!

Sorry, that was me spitting out my wine in shock!

No. I categorically never clean the skirting boards. Nor the door frames.

Nor the tops of the doors. Nor the picture frames. In fact, the only thing

I dust on anything remotely approaching a regular basis is the TV screen -

and that's only cos I want to watch a sharp-ish picture!!

In fact, in the days when I still went out to work and therefore had a

cleaning lady, I once didn't give an applicant the job on the basis that she

ran her finger over all those places - and then pulled a face!! Far too

scarey for me!

Talking of them, DH has just finished cleaning mine in the lounge

behind the sofa. My excuse is that we have so much furniture, I can't

get to them. Probably whip the hover over them about twice a year and

wipe them down when DS spills something down the back of the sofa,

that starts me off, then I do the whole house, but very rarely!!!

Who really has time anyway? and no-one looks, do they?

No you don't iron pants and socks Lynda (or was it Mum replying to that

post?)
