Guest guest
Hi e-I know an omphalocele is more serious than a hernia, but are the two related? My son Jaren has an umbilical hernia which our dr. said would be corrected later on in life-around 4 years old or so. I did not know what an omphalocele was until I did a little research on it. I just wanted to write because I never really made a connection between the clubfoot and the hernia-now I'm wondering if maybe there is something to it. Jaren was born on 4-18-02 with a unilateral clubfoot and was treated with the Ponseti method, which did wonders with his foot. As far as your baby is concerned, I would research to see if there are any Ponseti-trained doctors in your area and contact them ASAP. Normally, the casting for the clubfoot should be done as soon as possible. The casts should go all the way up the legs, so I'm not sure if that would interfere with what the drs. need to do for the omphalocele. Please keep us posted and welcome to the group-it is such a wonderful resource to have, and I am sure there are lots of people here that can help you. It's even nice just to have someone else to share your worries and thoughts with. I know it is stressful to hear the dr. say that your child has an abnormality, but you will make it through it. I was so worried when we found out about Jaren's clubfoot, but when we saw him for the first time, the worries just seemed to go away, and I knew everything would be okay. I'm sure the same will happen for you-just take it one day at a time. Guest guest
Dear , Hi! I'm Dedet. I also found out that my unborn child has club feet. We're due around the same time -- while i'm due on june 25, we're scheduling a caesarian section around june 14. I don't have any stories to share yet, but jsut wanted to let you know that we're walking similar journeys on the same time frame. I also found a website -- http://www.omphalocele.com/ run by mothers who have shared their success stories. Feel free to email me at dedet_reyes@... anytime!!! I can understand the feelings you must be going through now. Sending my prayers and hugs, dedet mrscajuste mrscajuste@...> wrote: Hello Everyone, Let me introduce myself. My name is e, I am 23 and I am currently expecting my first baby (EDD JUNE 11, 2004) and at my first Ultrasound I was told that my baby might have club foot and an omphalocele. So far, I am at bi monthly ultrasounds to monitor the omphalocele and have met with one of the surgeons who might be performing Gracie's Omphalocele Closure operation. I have yet to meet with someone for the Club Foot Issue. It appears that Gracie has bilateral club feet and I have some questions. 1. Is anyone else here in the same situation as I am in? If so, or even if not, Please share your stories.... 2. If so, how have you been managing? I mean in terms of both procedures that need to be done? I have been foretold that Gracie will be in the hospital for about two weeks while she has the closure done, and I want to know if they will/should try or start the Ponseti method within that time frame and how to go about requesting it? 3. If anyoneone wants to share their stories (*Especially Success*) stories, I would appreciate and welcome it. We are leaning on God and Know that all will be well, and no matter what we will love her no matter what. I appreciate your attention and your responses, and I will keep you all in my prayers. Guest guest
e, Welcome to the group. What is omphalocele? I have never heard of that before. Sorry, I wasn't any help. My son is now a year; and is doing good. He has b/l c/f. The first couple of months were hard because of all the appointments, but now we are down to every 4 months. SO it has gotten easier. Just remember God will not give you more than you can handle. If you have any questions feel free to ask. > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: NEW: My unborn baby has Club Foot and and >Omphalocele >Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 20:20:22 -0000 > >Hello Everyone, > >Let me introduce myself. >My name is e, I am 23 and I am currently expecting my first baby >(EDD JUNE 11, 2004) and at my first Ultrasound I was told that my baby >might have club foot and an omphalocele. > >So far, I am at bi monthly ultrasounds to monitor the omphalocele and >have met with one of the surgeons who might be performing Gracie's >Omphalocele Closure operation.
