Guest guest
Hi Everyone, We're still hoping to attend the b-day party for Dr. Ponseti, but a question recently crossed my mind. Is everyone going to be trying to schedule an appointment to see Dr. P during that time-frame? If so, I'm sure you've all scheduled your appointments by now - which means we probably won't be able to get one. Which also means we probably wont' be able to go to the b-day party considering we won't be making two trips to Iowa. Just curious what others' thoughts are regarding this? Also, is this party a " for sure " deal? I would hate to schedule (or try to) our checkup for around that time (meaning I would have to take off work) if the party doesn't happen - we are both teachers so it would be much easier to plan our visit during our summer vacation (which begins just a week after the party). Guest guest
Hi Holly, I noticed that your son is about the same age as mine 09/10/02. He has unilateral club foot of the right foot also. My son has been walking on the outside of his foot, and he still has the cavus. Is this something that you are familiar with? If so, what did Dr. Ponseti do about it? My doctor has suggested tendon transfer, and I am trying to get as much info on alternative methods before going forth with a drastic approach such as surgery. I have e-mailed Dr. Ponseti, also Dr. Colburn who is in California. I am just waiting on word back, and I am pretty anxious about it since the doctor advised us this on Friday. Whatever info you can share with me would be appreciated. Guest guest
Holly, we would only be attending the party since Dr. P. is not Owen's doctor. If the party is still a 'go', I will need to book our flight soon (using points) to make sure that we get it. Are most people planning to arrive on the Friday and leave on Sunday? I just want to avoid having to hang around by myself! LOL! Guest guest
, I would post your question to the entire group (if you haven't already) - Your doctor is recommending the tendon transfer? I would send pictures of your son's foot (either via snail mail or email) to Dr. Ponseti just to get a second opinion. You mentioned that you emailed him, I'm sure he'll get back to you soon (he's only the office on M W F) - and will more than likely ask you for pictures or video footage. I honestly don't have experience with this particular situation, but I'm sure someone in this group has. I can imagine how anxious you are, but with Dr. Ponseti's guidance and knowledge, if surgery can at all be avoided, he'd be the one to let you know that. Keep me posted - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and your little one!
