Guest guest
Michele- If you don't mind my asking, could you give me some details on Collin? I looked around a little on your website (very nice, btw...and Collin is cute!!) and saw that he had a relapse at 18 mos old. Was he walking then? How did he tolerate the cast? Did he crawl around with it? I'm just not sure what to expect with Jake. Thanks, Kassia mommy to 3/22/01 (Lt club foot) and 11/22/
Guest guest
Kassia, Sure, Feel free to ask me anything, you could also e-mail me personally at chele323232@.... Collin started walking around 14 months if I can remember correctly, I can check his babybook, I think I may even have it on our website on the baby book page. He had the full leg cast put on by Dr. Herzenberg, he had 2 or 3 I have to check, I know October was not that long ago, but things have been so hectic lately. He was a little freaked out that day, and told me it was stuck and asked me to take it off, I explained to him that only the doctor can and would just distract his attention. Let me tell you that he tried walking in it the 1st day, I had a hard time keeping a 2 year old down. The doctor explained that him walking in it wouldn't hurt the correction process, but its better to keep them down so they don't fall and get hurt, because it's not a flat walking cast they almost look like they are on their tippy toes when standing with their foot bent out. Collin would make me a nervous wreck he would try to spin in circles, run, etc. He never did get hurt though. I tried to ask him to crawl, with the way it was bent though, it was more like the army crawl where they drag their body behind. My neice who is with him on weekdays while I'm at work and 3 weeks younger them him was a trip, she would follow him around crawling too! I bought him a view finder and some slides like toy story, monsters inc, and pooh bear to help keep him down, play dough, and rented lots of movies to encourage him from not walking. The hard thing is he loves baths, and we had to sponge bath him, but the time went by quick it was for less then 2 months. I have to get back to my work. If I can be of help please e-mail or feel free to post more questions. Michele
