Guest guest
Athena, Firstly, if your boss cannot find a valid budgetary reason for cutting your hours, then what is her reason for making you part time? If it's her judgement that you are not "reliable" with Lupus, you might point out to her that many Lupus patients, myself included, worked for decades while in treatment before they had to retire from the work scene. I worked for the education system in California for over 25 years before retiring on my disability pension. And, believe me, I earned every cent of my pension, there is nothing charitable about it. LOL Not reliable? Huh! Call the Fair Employment Practices Commission, if they still exist, or the EERB (Employer/Employee Relations Board), and invoke the Americans With Disabilities Act with your boss. You have a clear cut case of discrimination here. Now, there's three avenues open to you to start. So, get started. If it were me, I'd begin with the Disabilities Act angle, because it is clearly discrimin- atory to force an employee into part time employment if it isn't medically necessary. Do you have anything in writing from your Rheumatologist? If not, get it. Let me know how things go. Hugs, MM
