Cindi,

Wow! 175 lbs! You go girl! I hadn't heard from you in a while and I was just wondering how you were doing. How's the hubby?

I admire anyone who is able to get the weight off and keep it off without wls. However, it was clear that I was not going to be one of the people able to do that, so for me wls was the right decision and I truly believe it has saved my life.

The one thing I forgot to mention in my last post to Debbie is the fact that I just had a Transient Ischemic Attack - TIA, also known as a mini stroke on March 17th. Thankfully, I was already on coumadin for the antiphospholipid syndrome. However, I cannot help but wonder if I would have had a full blown stroke instead of a TIA if I were still 100 lbs overweight.

Take care and give yourself a big pat on the back. You deserve it! At first I was embarrassed and was not going to tell anyone I was having wls. However, after I really thought about it, I decided I had no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed. I had tried to get the weight off with every diet imaginable and was unsuccessful. I had been successful in college, in my career, as a wife, as a mother, etc. My weight was the one area that for whatever reason I just was not able to be successful. I had the wls because it was the only way I knew that I could get the weight off and keep it off. I decided that rather than being ashamed of needing to have wls, I would be proud of myself for taking that step and doing what I needed to do to improve my health. I was and still am thankful that it was an option available to me, because for many it is not an option.

Congrats to you on your tremendous success!
