We went to an Army hockey game recently and she was stunned that Ian had any

interest in that. Why not? He's a kid and some of his friends play hockey

.... we live 15 minutes from a rink that has teams and tournaments all year. Why

wouldn't he be? He and his friends had a blast.

She dismisses Ian so easily, and yet would call and ask Ian to " come over

and play " with his cousins, which is really code for " I want a free babysitter

while I run errands. " And Ian would be happy to babysit free-of-charge for

the boys, so why bother with the subterfuge?
