Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've been a lurking member of your group for a while now, and thought I'd introduce myself. I've been on WW since May 15, but before that I followed a low carb diet since February. I'm down about 30 lbs now, and am happy about that, but starting to lose my motivation for some reason. Guess I'm out of the honeymoon stage! So I thought it was time that I get more involved with others that are following the program. I love WW in that I can have anything I want to eat--this philosophy works very well for me psychologically (especially having followed low carb eating on and off for 3 years!), even though I try to emphasize healthy foods. One thing I have noticed, though, is really, how many calories I ate in the past when not dieting! I had no idea. I knew I was eating on the unhealthy side, but just didn't comprehend how much, say, a grande mocha with whip and a muffin for breakfast, a patty melt and fries for lunch, and a restaurant meal for dinner would add up! It sounds so dumb to say that, but it's true. I'm going to lunch with a friend today and trying to decide what to eat in advance, with the help of the points finder. I discovered a patty melt, no fries, is 19 points! Wow! No wonder I had put on so many pounds over the years! Anyway, just wanted to say hi and start getting involved. I was VERY afraid when I joined WW that I would discover that, in fact, low carb was the only way I would lose weight. Following that way of eating, with LOTS of emphasis on whole foods, veggies, protein, fruits worked very well for me. But then I'd get bored and start eating more nuts, cheese, etc. It occurred to me one day that my weight loss would slow as I added these higher calorie treats to my diet...and if it was all about calories, then why not do WW--where I could have greater variety! So, apprehensive but hopeful, I joined. And am so glad that I did. Especially now that WW means variety and not liver every week! The program has come a LONG way since I first followed it at the age of 11. 273/247/
