Okay, so mostly I lurk, because I am in Nursing school, and if I am not

studying, I am sleeping, but for a " break " from the grueling pace, I

lurk, and read my emails. I have satellite (as cable is not available

where I live0, but I am certainly not (financially) rich.

Although I have not weighed in on 's ups and downs, I have peeked

in and seen how others have responded to his situation. I dare tol

confess that as a former young person, I recognize the struggles that

is experiencing. I get such a boost when he " wins " and grows a

little before he shares with us his next challenge. I can see him

growing, and it heartens me. Please don't squelch him.

ly, I don't have time for a group that only talks about smoothies

and points, and never becomes " relevant " in the lives of people who are

seeking help/change..

, any goal worth attaining is CERTAINLY worth working for. Your

hard work and sacrifice will, if you do not give in to self-pity, prove

to be a valuable step on the way to your future! Good choices and great

health to you! NIficent

Rich people have cable.

Yes, I'd have to take exception to this remark as well. I am NOT

rich....we work dang hard for the things we have, and one of those

things is cable. That doesn't make us rich. Nor does it mean that

people who don't have cable are " poor. "

Sheesh.

I might also add that the attitude that somehow someone else doesn't

deserve to be better off than you are is bunk. I know I work REALLY hard

for what I have, as does my husband, as does everyone else here.

The deal is, , we've all been through what you're going through on

varying levels. We've been poor. We've lived paycheck to paycheck,

sometimes wondering if we'd make it. We've struggled with college classes,

or young families, job loss, and all sorts of other stresses. That doesn't

mean that what you're going through isn't frustrating nor does it mean we

don't care, but what I think a number of people are feeling is that you

feel that somehow you're an exception to the rule...when Dude, you are

living the exact kind of life MOST people your age are living.

I think you're doing great. YOu've apparently made some great strides in

just the last few weeks. If you're interested in striding further then it's

up to you do either:

a) do something about it...we could give you ideas, but you tend to shoot

down every idea or suggestion given to you and we don't know your

situation, so I'm sure you can come up with something

or

B) accept it and don't complain about it

Hey, I'm a teacher. I made the choice to work a job I love so that I could

come home happy and feeling like I made a difference every day. I could

have gone into IT and made a lot more money, but I am satisfied with my

choice. I don't look at friends who work in IT and say " It's not fair that

you drive a BMW and I drive a Ford Escort " or " Wow " proclaimed bitterly

" Must be nice to have a nice house in Bellevue " while I'm renting a

two-bedroom in sville. Instead I realize that I have made my choices

and with those choices came sacrifices.

With college comes wonderful opportunity, new friends, mind-expanding

experiences, and education. But with those opportunities come lack of time,

stress, low income, and other frustrations. The trade off is worth it,

trust me. When you're doing a job you love than challenges you, you'll look

back with fondness on this time when you felt so frustrated but learned so

much.
