I forgot to mention my son's name. His name is Dominic. We are scheduled for Stage I with Dr. Brent this June and I will keep you posted on Dominic's status. He is so excited about the surgery. We have been very up front with him about what is going on by showing him pictures from Dr. Brent's website. He is in kindergarten and the teasing has been going on since the beginning of school. I understand that kids are naturally curious but when it verges on meanness that is when I have a problem with it and believe that these kids should be taught acceptance of other peoples' differences. I am scared, I know as any other parent would be, to have my son go through the surgery. I think he is beautiful just the way he is but, unfortunately, in the world we live in it is important to give our kids a chance to look like everyone else. He is very mature for his age and he knows that he wants 2 ears. The Lord gave my boy a neat personality with coping skills and defense mechanisms to handle the teasing. This year has been tough for my husband and I as parents to watch as he handles the teasing. We are all ready for the surgery and know that we have made the right choice to have the surgery done by Dr. Brent. Through a lot of prayer, we found Dr. Brent. Through a lot of prayer, when I thought I was alone, I found this group. Thank you all for caring. I will keep in touch. God Bless.
