Question, what does DO stand for?

I have often wondered this... How are they different from traditional doctors?

The very first doctor that gave me Armour was a DO, and I never asked, he was

referred to me by a lady I worked with then MANY years ago. He was the only DO I

have ever gone to but I just recently found one in this area where I am living

now. Is there hope this one might also prescribe Armour?
