Hi there

I think ive only posted once and mostly just like to read what everyone has

to say..but this one hit home with me.

I am 24 weeks and I seem to have a ravenous appetite!! Seems like all i think

about is food..it is freaking me out! I am 16 months post op, down 130#

before pregnancy and i have gained about 7 pounds so far. Does that seem like

alot?

How much do post ops gain on average?? I know it probobly varies but i'd just

like to hear how everyone else is doing.

I am due 10/10/03. I just cant stand seeing the scale going in the wrong

direction. I know i need to gain some weight while i'm pregnant but gosh is it

scary!!

Thanks for your input!!

Becky

Juli,

Hello! I too am 17 weeks along. I am 9 months out of surgery and 28 years

old. I totally crave fruit and sweets. I have noticed I can tolerate

quite a bit more sugar and carbs now, but also dump with milk. If I do

milk by itself I'm okay. I've heard a lot of WLS/Pregnant gals during the

pregnancy have been able to tolerate more sugar.

I eat a lot of mini-meals and that has helped my hunger surges.

Best of luck to you!

Annette

Yes, my appetite has definitely improved! I feel ravenous much of

the time. As for sugar... well, I've never been able to tolerate it

very well (I dump like crazy!), but I can tolerate it even less since

becoming pregnant. A teaspoon of rice will make me dump. Bleah.

I've gained about 30 lbs since becoming pregnant - I'm 38 weeks now,

and I had my surgery over two years ago. I was at goal weight before

I got pregnant, so a 30lb weight gain is pretty acceptable, I think,

although it's still freaking me out, most days!

I don't look like I've gained any weight at all - people tell me I

don't even look pregnant still. Ah well.

Hope everything turns out well with your amnio!

Juli, this is my second pregnancy post WLS and with both my appetite

increased significantly. Now, I feel like i eat continually. I'm

always hungry. I'm probably eating less than I think I am (dh thinks

I don't eat enough), but it's still a ton compared to what I was

eating pre-pregnancy. I can say that my appetite pretty well returned

to normal after I delivered my first daughter. I'm hoping it will be

the same with this one as well.

As far as tolerating more sugar. I have never really had a problem

with dumping (except with milk) since surgery. However I never pushed

it. When I got pregnant the first time, sweet foods were all I

craved. Anything sweet...fruit, candy, anything. And I ate it and

never had a problem. Then I get pregnant the second time and I have a

really hard time with sweets. Again it's all I crave and want to eat,

but now I dump. This pregnancy has been really hard not being able to

eat what I'm craving. I know it's for the best though. I really don't

need the candy. :o)

Best of luck to you!

Hello everyone, I wanted to post on this subject because I went through all

these same concerns, well really I still am..Im 39.5 weeks and I'm going in the

morning to be induced. Anyway I have ate alot more since I've been pregnant

than before. I am 27 months post-op and was down 111 lbs since surgery. I

gained a total of 23 with this pregnancy. I am one that don't dump very often

but I can't do milk with cereal, when I eat cereal I have to put just a little

milk but not very much. I can eat a candy bar, brownie, etc and not dump but

the catch is I didn't even want sweets at all after surgery until I got

pregnant, I didn't even eat a donut until about 4 months ago since surgery...My

main

concern is getting back to my good habits I had pre-preg and I want to get

back on track as soon as possible because before becoming PG I was still about

40 lbs from goal. Anyway I thi nk we all have the same concerns about not

being able to change back to our healthy eating habits we had pre=preg...I know

we

can do it girls, we made a big sacrifice to have this life saving surgery and

we didn't do it for nothing....Good luck and wish me luck for a fast delivery

tomorrow...It' s my 3rd daughter and hopefully it will be a quick

delivery....I hope anyway....good luck everyone, this site has helped me

enormously

throughout my pregnancy....This really is a great support group....Thanks again.
