Guest guest
I think thats the whole basis for the adkins diet. And more and more doctors are jumping on his bandwagon. Sounds like there is real validity in his theories. -- In parenting_autism , " The Byks " <thebyks@e...> wrote: > > eat AT ALL for the first 3 days. It's not somethign I always do well, so please don't be offended if I'm off the mark. > You didn't sound patronizing at all and you summed it up well. It's been a number of years since I read much about the diet so I'm a bit rusty. I didn't bother to research it more once I found out it was so restrictive. I knew my in-laws or parents would end up giving him something he shouldn't have. Either that or the school would mess up like so many schools have done on this list. (not a slam on all schools, just my personal knowledge of my school system.) > I have to wonder if a low-carb diet would be as effective without the severity? You would just have to limit carbs enough to keep the child in ketosis. Usually the goal of ketosis with low-carb is weight loss but ketosis does not automatically mean weight loss. There are other factors. > I don't know. The diet has been pretty thoroughly researched so I'm thinking they would have tried making it a little less difficult to follow, but then again, medical research does not always follow my ideas of common sense. > Thanks much Tina!! You're welcome. > I really would be interested in the video if you didn't mind. I would return it to you of course. > Sure, just send me your snail mail addy and I'll send it out tomorrow when I go to work. The video is distributed by the Charlie Foundation. http://www.charliefoundation.org/ http://www.charliefoundation.org/noframes/diet/overview.php Very informative site.
