First and foremost, I am Barb ' father.

Second, as part of my role of being a father, I went back to night

school three years ago to take the program to become a Licensed

Massage Practitioner here in Seattle to learn what I could to help

Barb specifically, but all of my family in general, with pain

management issues.

There are some around who might say I became somewhat obsessed with

the subject of massage and bodywork. My basic schooling was about

800 hours of training. Since graduating 20 months ago, I have added

another 500 hours to that. I am by no means done yet.

Since I have not really been practicing " professionally " I tend to

describe myself in my continuing education classes as a " very highly

trained amateur. " My continuing ed focus for the last year and a

half has been on eastern and energetic modalities like acupressure,

polarity, reiki, and therapeutic touch on the one hand and

myofascial release, lymphatic drainage and cranialsacral therapy on

the other.

And to be very candid, I have been getting results with the eastern

and energetic work that simply are not possible with more

conventional methods, including conventional massage and bodywork.

At any rate, for a number of reasons, I finally got fed up with

my " previous life " about ten months ago and elected to take early

retirement the first of last May. I spent the first six months

catching up on projects around the house and taking too long

deferred vacation " trips.

But since those activities have settled down, I have kicked up my

involvement with the CEDA list. I figure I have about three years

and $30,000 invested in this now - I might as well get as much use

out of it as I can by sharing some of that knowledge with the list

if it can help anybody else out there.

So - that's the long answer to who or what I am.
