Guest guest Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Ask for everything at Outback WITHOUT THE SEASONED SALT! I too was sick after eating steaks, shrimp and Alice Springs chicken at Outback. The seasoned salt is stated to be GF, but ever since I started asking to have my meal prepared without it, I've been fine. (And the tiniest bit of gluten bothers me.) I eat there a couple times a month, all around the country. Sweet potato (even loaded) and tea should be ok as is. S. > > Miserable Esther writing tonight. I've been > glutened AGAIN at Outback. Guest guest Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 So sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at Outback, Esther. We eat at Outback regularly and we almost always have Alice Springs Chicken with absolutely no issues. Could you have another intolerance that you are not aware of as yet -- lactose or casein maybe? Just a thought.... Guest guest Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 The only thing I ever order at Outback is the Alice Springs Chicken. Its my favorite thing there! I've never had a problem with it, except once... I ordered it with garlic mashed potatoes. The " regular meal " comes with the gluten-loaded Aussie chips. When they brought my meal out I found a couple aussie chips hiding under my potatoes. They obviously threw the chips on the plate, went " oops! " wiped them off, and slapped on the potatoes. And they didnt even do the switch well. But I was glad because if I didn't find the chips, I never would have known!! And they were very nice about the whole issue, meal was on the house that night! Maybe something like this happened and you were glutened by cross- contamination. > > > > So sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at Outback, > Esther. > > > > We eat at Outback regularly and we almost always have Alice > Springs > > Chicken with absolutely no issues. Guest guest Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Im thinking it may have been MSG??? I have a severe reaction to it, and I wonder if the seasoning mix has msg in it? Today is my birthday and I am planning on going out to OB, but now I am leery. Amy in Central AR wrote: The only thing I ever order at Outback is the Alice Springs Chicken. Guest guest Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 I was thinking something like that too. Sounds like that Outback may not have the GF thing down. Esther, you might want to call them and talk to a manager. I think it would be helpful for them to know what carelessness does and maybe they can fix it. Corporate is clearly trying to provide a good meal to Celiacs, so it's not like you're asking for the impossible that you don't get glutened. Sorry you feel so horrible. Hope you feel better soon. Guest guest Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 I'm so sorry you feel bad. I know " bad " doesn't even begin to cover it. I'm headed to Outback for a business lunch today. Wish me luck. Looking at salad for lunch again Lori > > > > > > > > Miserable Esther writing tonight. I've been > > > > glutened AGAIN at Outback. Guest guest Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 I would also suggest NOT getting the salad. Even saying " no croutons " does not seem to help. The last few times I have been there I have found remnants of what looks like crouton crumbs in my salad. This is of course after I had been eating it for awhile. They must make the salad in some big mix and pick the croutons out. Or they are just forgetful and then remember before they bring them out. How frustrating!!!!! Quote
