Gosh, that word makes me cringe as if I've heard fingernails on a chalkboard. I'm wondering if most chapters still use the term 'backslider'. I know that our's still does, even though in our by-laws we use the term 'inspirational member'. Far be it from me to correct our weight recorder, who has been in TOPS forever, when she announces the 'Best Backslider of the Week'. Kay told me quite some time ago, that we aren't to use that word anymore. It has such negative connotations, and TOPS tries to focus on the positive. (ie: changing 'how foolish I have been' to 'I WILL take off pounds sensibly') This is the dictionary definition: back·slide (băk'slīd') To revert to sin or wrongdoing, especially in religious practice. back'slid'er n. Just wondering what term other chapters use. hugs, Janet Quote
Guest guest Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Sorry, I am just an oldie, didn't realize it was negative-with me it is a fact. Can't say I have every heard anyone in our chapter use it. > >Reply-To: TexasTOPS >To: TexasTOPS >Subject: Re: 'backslider' >Date: Sun, 22 Jan 2006 17:54:42 -0600 > > >>> wrote: I am a backslider but I am on my way back down. > >*/Gosh, that word makes me cringe as if I've heard fingernails on a >chalkboard.
