It's easy enough to setup a restricted group through Yahoogroups (a la

listen-up) for teens with hearing loss. Like Listen-up, folks would

need to " audition " - or perhaps limit it to just kids of ours on the

list? I would think both my boys - who are 11 and 13 - would enjoy

being part of that.

I know , Kay and I are pretty busy with Listen-up so perhaps if this

new group were created, someone else would be interested in moderating it?

Ian would probably enjoy a list like that. He's a one-of-a-kind around here.

If it gets off the ground, I'd volunteer to be a moderator ... would prefer

to be one of a several and not a lone wolf. I use to moderate a youth room

on AOL ages ago.

Sorry to be late in responding to so many things. We've been away for the

Since I brought it up, I'll offer to be a moderator. Maggie is in Texas

visiting a friend who moved away and today she broke her arm/wrist! So we had

our first long distance emergency room visit. She is fine though, hasn't even

needed anything for pain, its a hairline fracture.

Gruess Gott Inge! We lived in Germany for 3 years from 1976 - 1979, in

Schwaebisch Hall - thus the Gruess Gott.

I know the Yahoo LVAS group is starting-has started a group for HOH

teens. I don't think you have to have LVAS to participate. You can log

on and ask about it if you don't want to moderate your own group.

Anyway- I have mentioned in the past how there are absolutely no

support networks in Louisiana for HOH children and parents. I know

there is the hands and voices network which is a great source of

information and some one on one " parent to parent " talk, but even they

don't have suggestions of parent support groups in the area.

I'm really late in responding to this but I'm wondering if you can try and

hook up with the people at the Louisiana Hands & Voices (their email is up and

running now!) and team up to run a parent meeting? In IL, we have what we

call " Parent Connection " meetings which are two hour meetings for the

parents. Sometimes we do parents only, sometimes we plan activities that

include

the kids in another room with deaf/hh adult volunteers.
