I have a Sportline Talking Calorie Pedometer 343 that I got at Target

for $8 on sale (regularly $19.95). I love it. You enter your weight,

length of stride (that is more accurate than height) and it very

accurately counts your steps and computes steps, distance, time and

calories.

A good way to get into a walking program is to get a pedometer and

just wear it for a week and write down the readings each day. Average

it out and the end of the week. For the next week, strive to add 1000

steps per day. Keep doing that until you get to the 10,000 that is

recommended for weight loss. For health, the number is 6,000.

You can add steps very easily if everytime a commercial comes on

television you get up and march in place or walk around your house.

I now look forward to my daily walk and really miss it when I can't do

it. I use the Walk Aerobics tape on inclement days.
