3.5 lbs is wonderful! Yay Beth!

This just occurred to me... many moons ago, I was reading posts on a weight

loss discussion group and came across a good idea. One of the ladies bought

a bunch of marbles and counted out a marble for every pound she lost. She

would move a marble for every pound lost from one container to another. I

thought it was a creative way to visualize her progress.

This could even be integrated into one's decorating scheme. I've seen some

'marbles' in floral supply shops that would be quite elegant in a tall glass

vase. This could also be an interesting conversation piece or even just a

personal trophy.

I did a similar thing. I made a list of things that I wanted but

would normally think twice about getting myself (luxeries like

earings, expensive perfume, day at salon, etc.) Each time I lost ten

pounds I would go to my list and " shop " - then go right out and get

it without a second thought!

And for those times where you just want to make it through the

week/day/hour on program, my leader made a suggestion that saved me

more times than I care to admit. It was a spreadsheet with a box for

every hour of the day, and every day of the week (Mon - Sun at the

top, 12 - 12 on the side). For each hour that I didn't eat, or ate

what was on program I got to color in a square. There were times

that I wanted something that wasn't OP and would wait 15 minutes,

just so I could color in another square. Then when the 15 minutes

would be over, I would try just another hour - like I knew that once

the off program eating began it would take over the whole night. And

if I made it through that hour, I almost always didn't want it.

Hope those suggestions help.

By the way - today was my first weigh in - I lost a respectable 3.5

lbs. Since I'm not going to WW meetings, y'all are my serogate

meeting - and I want to be acountable (and celebrate when needed).
