Guest guest
4 APs is one hour of moderate activity. This is the amount which was suggested as ideal for health in the Surgeon General's 1996 paper on exercise. I think the idea is that WW is a program for total health and a lifestyle and not a " diet " . Five people in my life died in the past year. None of them were fat. Three of them were smokers. None of them exercised. Another person my age just had a stroke. He was very thin but had been a lifelong smoker. Did not exercise. The Surgeon General after confering with an expert committee of scientists which included, I believe WW's Pi Sunyer, wrote in the 1996 paper that NOT exercising daily was as dangerous as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. If 4 APs a day is really a part of the new program, bravo for WW!!! We are going to have a lot of very healthy people soon! Sue New program > > > > > > > > > Does anyone know about the new program? For me, it's *at least* an hour and a half, probably more like two hours. Not easy to fit into every day... -:|:-
Guest guest
> 4 APs is one hour of moderate activity.< One hour of moderate activity does not earn me 4 APs based on my weight. I don't earn 4 APs every single day, but I definitely average out to at least that. Because I train so hard in preparing for the marathon, I have to have at least one day each week where I don't do anything, other than light stretching. Otherwise, my legs feel it the next time I go out to do speed intervals. My breakdown usually looks something like this: Monday: rest day, no APs or 2 from 45-60 minutes of light yoga Tuesday: run in the morning (5-7 APs) and pilates in the evening (2 APs) Wednesday: Cross train cardio (3-4 APs) and weights (1-2 APs) Thursday: Run in the morning (5-6 APs) and pilates in the evening (2 APs) Friday: run in the morning (5-6 APs) or REST DAY if called for on training schedule Saturday: MY CHOICE (do whatever sounds fun: bike, hike, walk, just not running) (3-5 APs) Sunday: long run (8+ APs) April
