Guest guest
-Dear S, I have a few small lipomas only- nothing causing much of a problem. Interestingly, i have no family history of cholesterol problems, but I am going to let my doc know when I see her tomorrow, that they are just one more thing that could be attribulted to mito, Celia -- In , BDS31@w... wrote: > Dear Celia, > In reading a bit about lipid disorders, I see that they are caused by > some metabolic glitch. Guest guest
Yes, I remember from KC and all her problems with lipomas. I have not heard from her for several years, so don't know what is happening. We had arranged to meet once, but I had to cancel. I don't have her email address anymore. Last word was her doctors at the MDA clinic at KUMC were not open to a mito diagnosis--but did have another diagnosis for her that is associated with lipomas, though I have forgotten the name of the disorder at the moment... I've had a few lipomas too, but not a plague. Barbara > Do you have any problems with lipomas? (Benign fatty tumors.) I have one > on my upper arm. Guest guest
Barbara I have over a hundred - all sizes. Dr. Cohen said that the incidence of lipomas is higher in the mito population than in the " normal " population. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Thu, 02 Sep 2004 21:17:54 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: Cholesterol, Foods, Lipomas > > Yes, I remember from KC and all her problems with lipomas. Guest guest
Right, I understand that. I helped gather research material on the incidence of lipomas in mitochondrial disease, and there are quite a few reports in the literature on this subject. But her doctors said her lipomas were due to another genetic disorder which she was confirmed to have, and for which lipomas are one of the hallmarks of the disorder. Just can't recall the name.
