Do you eat all your AP's?

I'm getting differnt answers on the WW boards, so I thought I would

try here as well. I earn about 5-8 points every other day, and

today I earned 10!!! I'm not able to eat all of them, but is it

okay to eat some of them? The general consensus seems to be you can

eat only 4 a day...or you can eat all of them the same day you earn

them. What do you all think?

Thanks!

I don't eat them most days, but on the weekend I eat up to 19 points more

than I eat during the week. (It's based on the old formula where I would

bank 5 points of food and 4 points of Aps during the week, then on weekends

I'd eat my 5 points and my 4 Aps plus use up to 10 out of the bank hence 19

points over my " target " points.) So my target points are set low (25 or 27,

I'm on maintenance) and I don't eat my during the week Aps (I generally earn

8-10) so I can eat higher on the weekends when I'm out and about more.

Under flex points, you HAVE to eat them the day that they're earned. There's no

more banking at all. There no longer is a limit on how many APs you eat in a

day. If you earn 8, then you can eat all 8. However, WW does *recommend* that

you speak with a doctor if you earn more than 4 APs a day (the old plans only

allowed for you to eat up to 4 APs a day--they did to discourage folks from

hurting themselves to earn more food points). Some leaders, say to use all but

2 of your APs each day, some still go the old school road of no more than 4 APs

a day and others say, if you earn 'em, eat 'em all. It's totally up to you how

you use them. Some folks use all their flex points and part of their APs. Some

use all their flex points and none of their APs. Others, can eat every last

point available to them. It depends on your level of activity and how your

metabolism works. Me personally, I can eat every last point available and still

lose. I've even gone over--out of flex and no sign

of earning enough APs (it was an accident--I forgot about something I ate and

miscalculated points on something else) by up to 14 points and still lost and it

didn't come back to " haunt me " the next week either.

With flex points, WW has really made this an individual program. You work it

however it works for you. It makes it easier to find what your " magic " key is.

,

The rule about only eating 4 AP's per day is under the old Winning

Points plan. Under

Flex, you can eat them all - just can't " bank " them - they must be eaten

in the day they're

earned. I've routinely eaten all my AP's every day and been very

successful in my program. I've

lost more slowly if I don't eat them. I generally earn 5-10 AP's per day.

Gymmie is right, no more restrictions on how many APs you can eat in

a day, you can eat all you earn if you want.

I eat all my APs and FPs. Although I'm on maintenance, I am still

trying to lose to get to personal goal, and I find that even eating

all points available to me, I'm still able to lose. It is a little

slower than when I eat less, but honestly, I'm VERY active and when I

don't eat all my points, I get VERY hungry and tend to not perform as

well when working out. Plus, if I try to cut out some or all of my

APs/FPs, I will lose big for a week or two, then it stops. By eating

all my points, I lose slowly, but I lose consistently.

Seriously? *ALL* of your AP's?

That doesn't seem right to me, for a couple of reasons. First, all of

the WW leaders I've spoken to (but, granted, it's been a couple of

months) have said that you can only eat a maximum of five. Second, I've

earned up to 21 AP's in a single day, and eating them *all* seems really

excessive. I just figure that on the heaviest workout days, I still

only earn a maximum of four AP's.

I thought that you could eat what you earned that day. If you don't eat

them all then you lose them.

Do you eat all your AP's?

I very seldom eat any of my AP's. I just know they are there if I

need the extra. But I am still following the Winning Points system,

not the flex points... Our leader always preached on eating only your

4 AP's, now however, with the flex points, she dearly stresses, that

is what the Flex are for, to dip into when you need extra..and not to

eat the AP's unless you are really in need of them....AND still says

to eat only the 4 ap's per day...a little difference here from what

some other leaders say..but it seems to all lead down the same path

to me...eat some flex or eat some ap's...

Yes, that is correct. Some folks are still confused after almost a year of the

new program (and some leaders aren't helping in unconfusing folks).

Yup, under flex points, you can eat all of your APs if you desire. The online

journal will take your APs first (even if you dip into your flex and then add

APs, it'll give you the flex back and use the APs). There are no restrictions.

There was an example when FP first came out of someone earning a lot of APs and

using them. You don't *have* to eat them all, just like you don't *have* to eat

all your FPs. BUT if you earn them and are still hungry, you can use those

instead of your FPs. I'll have to see if I can find it, but there are no

restrictions on your APs any more, if you eat them, you have to do it the day

their earned.

I *do* know how to spell...hehehehe..didn't realize I did the wrong thing. The

last sentence should be...you have to eat them the day that they're earned.

But all I know, is that there are a lot of us who are able to eat every last

point (target, flex and ap (whether it's 1 or 20--although on a daily basis most

of us don't earn that many, just every so often) and steadily lose. Like I said

in another post, I've even gone over by 14 points and lost and it didn't come

back to " bite me " --and again that was in error, I miscalculated points and

forgot about something I had eaten.

I'll see if I can find that example that WW gave when flex came out, I might

have lost it when I switched ISPs.

Well I'm an online person and I've read Wwers website and they say you may eat

all of your Aps. But only YOU can know what is right for you. If it isn't right

for you to eat them all, then maybe you shouldn't. I don't think that Wwers

assumes more people earn 21 Aps in a day, and if you really did earn 21 Aps

(i.e. burn 2100 calories just in exercise alone) on a regular basis, then you

darn tootin' BETTER be eating many or all of your Aps or you will be a hurting

unit in no time!

I just have one question...

How in the world are you earning 21 in a day? Are you walking to

work with ankle weights 10 miles uphill in the snow, barefoot, and

dragging your co-workers in a wagon behind you? :>)

Really...I'm curious!!!

I'm wondering how you do earn that many--I ran a marathon and got 26--took me

over 5 hours of continuous running...I definitely needed every single AP, too!

Well, it only happened once.

First, I weighed about 240 pounds at the time. That helped. :)

Second, I went for a three-hour workout that morning, which included

heavy weight-lifting and a LOT of cardio stuff.

That afternoon, I went out for a 30 mile bike ride, riding *hard* all

the way.

It was mostly an experiment to see how many AP's I *could* get in one

day. Heh.

I would say that on regular workout days for me, with a two-hour workout

of varying intensity, I usually get between 7 and 9 AP's.

But I'm still not sure about eating *that* many AP's in one day. But

perhaps that's just a holdover from the WWPoints days. Heh.

SERIOUSLY, I eat EVERY LAST ONE OF MY APs. I did so during my weight

loss stage and steadily lost. When I scaled back and tried to eat

only some of my APs and some of my FPs, I would lose big for a week

or two, then go on a several-week plateau of stay the same, lose just

a bit, then gain. I usually earn 5-8 APs a day with one day a week

(my long run) where I can easily earn 10-15, but I'm in training for

a marathon, so that has a lot to do with it. You better believe

during my longest training run when I was back training for the half

marathon (2.5 hours worth of running), I ate every last point

available. Otherwise, my muscles would have STARVED.

My leader says you can eat all you earn, the only restriction is you

can no longer bank them...you must use them the day you earn them.
