Hey all...

I can't say " I'm back, " because I never really left. It's been a

rough few months, though. A year ago I got the RA diagnosis, and the

depression just seemed to skyrocket from there - and along with it,

my weight. After the last 3 months of pure, undiluted hell I finally

received the diagnosis of Bipolar, type II and began treatment. This

is the first month that I've been human in a very long time. With

humanity, comes control... with control, getting my life and body

back.

My weight is back up to 154.5 - not great, as I was down to 140 and

below as little as a year ago. OTOH, it's not the 180 I started

with, so that's progress. Money's tight, so meetings are out, but

hubby and I are faithfully back on plan. I even ate my veggies

today, which is a personal victory. I also ran, which was

discouraging. The good news is that I can still run a mile

uninterrupted, but the bad is my time being up to 10:48. Sigh - got

some serious work to do... and upper body as well. Down to 20 push-

ups, 10 sit-ups, and everything else is lower as well. With weight

comes decreases in fitness... but I knew that.

The final hurdle is that the meds I'm on (depakote) may cause weight

gain... although it's iffy. At this point I don't care, so long as I

feel human and my family/work staff can stand me, but it's something

to watch. In addition, my son (who is now as tall as me and up to

120 pounds)has hit the 16yo eat-everything-in-sight stage, and with

both the down syndrome and heart condition, he can't afford any extra

weight. That means everything in the house MUST be healthy -

period. Talk about motivation.

So... that's me. I've been busy juggling the new class (pure autism

is a heck of a lot harder than cross-categorical special ed) and

finding out what's been wrong for the last 5 years has been...

enlightning. Just wanted to let you know I'm still here, still

fighting to stay on program, and still... me :)

Hi Crys, nice to hear from ya'/ You have been having some rough times

by the sound of it..glad to hear it is finally diagnosed for you.

Having your whole family eating the same healthy way is going to make

things much easier in that dept. And as for teens they do love to

eat don't they. I wish you all the best.....Kallie

Welcome back Crys! We missed you SO MUCH!

I'm sorry you've been through such a rough patch, but the good news is

you've identified the problem and can now deal with it. It's the unknown

that causes fear. Bless you on your journey and congratulations on

getting RIGHT back on track! Who could ask for anything more?
