Guest guest
Hi Barb, I understand your predicament very well, I've got a ton of them under my arms, it's hell to try and shave!!!!!!!!!!!! Bev L camelady@... -- Hospital gowns...? Ok, here's a pretty lame question...ummmm....I was reading a post where " it's fun trying to take a gown off the patient when they are sleeping " , does that mean that you are completely NAKED when they do the surgery? *blushing* Just curious. And one more thing. I have this skin tag right under my right boobie (sorry guys), and it's as big as the state of Texas (well, I think it is), and I asked the surgeon to take it off and he wouldn't, anyone know why he wouldn't? I mean he was right there....he could have just taken his little knife and sliced the annoying little thing off. Now it's bothering me, getting caught on my bra and OUCH! I suppose I'll be making a trip to my family doctor to have it removed *sigh*. Oh well. Thanks for the insight. Barb
Guest guest
Hi! I have nothing to do with the medical field and I know the answer to this one: Yes! You are naked, Sorry! Just incase of an emergency to get to any part of your body. The not taking off the tag is because It is not his thing, I know how this can suck but when and if you get the TT then the plastic surgeon will do it. I have the same thing and most of us heavy people do have them not all in the same spot like ours but they do have them. Just my 2 cents...HUGS! nette pre-op waiting for my date in May. > Ok, here's a pretty lame question...ummmm....I was reading a post where > " it's fun trying to take a gown off the patient when they are sleeping " , > does that mean that you are completely NAKED when they do the surgery? > *blushing* Just curious. Guest guest
yes gowns are taken off during surgery, but warm blankets and usually a warming device of some kind is used. We use blankets that hot air blows thru to keep people warm. Debbie
Guest guest
as for the skin tag, I have no clue why the surgeon wouldn't take it off, unless you forgot to ask him. EVERYTHING has to be on the consent form or they won't do it. Deb Sellman
Guest guest
THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS THAT SOMETIMES MY DERMATOLOGIST SENDS THEM TO A LAB. Guest guest
--- if you go to your normal physician they should be able to remove the skin tag and send it off to be tested. But get this, I had oral surgery performed last year and my oral surgeon, took all the little skin tags off on my neck and under my arm where it also got killed by my bra. I woke up in recovery and my nurse was staring at me because I had a load of little stitches everywhere. She couldn't figure out how surgery on my mouth strayed to my neck. I was so glad to have them gone, but surprised my oral surgeon did it. I guess it just depends on the surgeon. Your doctor should do it for you, very simple procedure. Guest guest
nette, I can assure you that as a nurse who works in a very big and busy operating room, that every chance to be respectful of someone's body is done. We don't leave people lying around nude as it's very cool (ok, so you could hang meat in some of the rooms) and a person can drop their body temperature really fast. Low temp means people don't like to breath afterwards, and so we keep them covered with warm blankets. And drapes, everything is draped off except that area which is being worked on. So everyone, NO you aren't just lying there on a table with no clothes on at all............... Deb Sellman Operating room nurse x 15 yrs. Guest guest
Wow, Deb...I was *trying* to be calm about the mental picture of naked me on the operating table, figuring everyone had seen naked bodies millions of times in hospitals. Your post is a BIG relief. Whew! Laurie W. Guest guest
I must have come across wrong I know that they wouldn't leave you not covered. Guest guest
But the drapes, well, they don't exactly make a fashion statement. No point in wearing heels to this party.
