Guest guest
Thanks , I was so glad to hear that insurance is required by law to pay for symmetry! I breast fed 2 children also! What is a prophy mast? How long after you finished radiation did u have the reconstruction? Thanks again Juli
Guest guest
Hi all, I am 2 weeks post mastectomy. The surgeon left me some breast tissue, but took all 16 of my nodes ( 5 were cancerous) I look forward to reconstruction, I was a full C cup. I still have 4 more rounds of chemo and 6 weeks radiation. Afterward, has anyone had implants? I dont think Ill need the tram flap because I still have flesh on my breast. Does anyones insurance pay for both breasts to be implanted? I mean, Im 43 and sagging is evident, so what happens? One boob perky and one not? I'd love any feedback. Thanks, Juli
Guest guest
Insurance is required by law to pay for symmetry. In my case, I was also going to have to have a lift or something on the opposite side. I am 41 and breast fed my two children. So I decided (along with my oncologist) that I wanted a prophy mast instead of a lift. I had that 4 weeks ago and am in the process of getting my expanders filled up. I'll have implants put in this Dec. Hope this helps. in Mississippi > > Hi all, > I am 2 weeks post mastectomy. Guest guest
Hi Juli, I'm 45 and feel a very young 45 at that. My mast. will be coming up within a couple weeks. I am going for the DIEP or SIEA flap procedure whwhen I get to have my reconstruction. I am like you in that I have to do chemo and radiation (if needed) before I can get a new one. The doc is going to do a skin-sparing mast. so I will have this sack hanging around for a number of months. Gross! I am a DD and I'm a little overweight, but I have always been a DD. I hope to scale back to a C! My insurance does pay for making the other boob look the same. I look forward to a tummy tuck and perky boobs! Best of luck to you and God Bless!
