Guest guest
Hello all.... I rarely post but wanted to throw my 2cents in with regard to the recent news abouta flu shots..... Call your local county health office and get on the list immediately. My doctor was unable to get me a shot last year because they deferred to the elderly even though they were aware that I have an underlying medical condition. My pediatrician's office wants my kids to get shots and they have both the shot and the mist. One doc said...definitely get the mist it works better. Another pediatrician in the same office STRONGLY suggested to get the shot, not the mist as the shot has dead virus in it and the mist has live virus in it....Anyone want to weigh in on this mystery? My kids were psyched to not get a shot....now they're petrified to get the shot. Learned today that I most likely torn my miniscus (sp?) and had an MRI. I am limping around not knowing how the heck I did this. I see an ortho next week and was told to stay on anti-inflammatory meds round the clock till then and keep off my feet...hah! One kid has been home for 2 weeks with pneumonia and the other has been home since Mon on bowel prep for and endoscopy and colonoscopy on Wednesday. Ain't life grand!!!!! lol... Once again, due to the infinite wisdom of my husband (again lol) we are going to change ISP within a week...I'll write in and change my address after I hook up with Verizon. Best wishes to all...including birthday wishes. I think it was a who had a complex migraine....welcome to the club. I have had two and recovered almost completely except for 40% loss of strength on my right side. I attributed my loss of memory to it completely until recently when I started using bio-identical hormones to treat my early menopause and I am actually remembering names and words for a change!!! Yahoo.....! Anyone with thyroid ssues? I have repeatedly complained that I am hypothyroid even though my levels are " within " limits. Recently I got back some tests with the following results.... T3 Uptake 33.2 (25-35) range Total T4 5.9 (5.0-11.5) ug/dl TSH 1.94 (0.4-5.0) uIU/ml Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies Ref Range<60 My score 25 Thyroglobulin Autoantibodies Ref Range <60 My score 67 My son and My mother are both hypothyroid and I have EVERY SINGLE SYMPTOM OF HYPOTHYROIDISM AND NO ONE WILL TREAT ME...... My Total T4 has been dwindling down and down over the years.....The CRNP treating me for my hormone issues is afraid I am burning out my adrenals. Anyone have a similar experience that they can share with me. You can write me direct at purplegromit@.... One other reading I keep getting which I don't understand is that on my comprehensive metabolic panel my ALK PHOS keeps creeping up. Latest reading is 149 (range 39-118) IU/L. Thanks for the info! Guest guest
Hi Carol, The pediatrician who strongly suggested the shot form verus the Mist form is absolutely correct when he told you that the Flu shot has the dead virus in it, and the Mist form has a live virus in it. I got the shot last year at the MDA Clinic and believe me, I WILL NOT being getting another flu shot(or the Mist) this year. I was sick within days, but everybody said it can't be from the Flu shot, it has a dead virus in it, not a live one. I was sicker than heck for over 10 days. But it didn't stop there, I have been in a constant major crash since the day I got my flu shot last year. Just this past month I have seen a small improvement in myself. I am still sleeping for almost 18 hours a day, and some days even more than that. I don't want to get the Flu shot and end up worse then I am now( the only way it could get worse would be for me to die). So this year I am taking my chances and not getting the shot. I will go to the ER or call my PCP immediately and have her admit me with IV fluids if I do end up getting the Flu. The good thing is that I am so energy deprived that I rarely go out in public. Sorry to hear about the torn/pulled miniscus. It is very painful. That is usually vey hard to pull/tear because it hides behind the knee. Most people and dogs tear their ACL's instead. I hope the anti-inflammatories work, and try your best to stay off your feet. I hope your child with pneumonia is feeling better and I hope the other makes it through his tests on Wednesday(today). Let's put it this way....Life is never boring!!! LOL I don't know much about thyroid issues, but my Neuro keeps testing me for it. Don't know why, maybe it is b/c I have noticed more and more people with Mito dx having adrenal problems. Hope you find answers to you thyroid problems. Isn't the ALK Phos associated with your liver enzymes? Good luck and keep your leg up and stay off your feet. Hugs, Ann-Marie Confused about flu shots Hello all.... The doctor/expert guest said the mist does have live virus and for that reason it is recommend ONLY for healthy people ages 5-49. It is NOT recommended for anyone with chronic illness of any age, or for healthy children under age 5 or for healthy adults age 50 or older. The shot is recommended for anyone with chronic illness. Hope this helps. Barbara Barbara
