Guest guest
Hi, Good morning. :-) Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Saturday is always a day I look forward to how about everyone else? Although the weather here is pretty gray this morning, yesterday was beautiful with blue skies. I actually was starting to feel a little return of a small amount of energy yesterday after being able to successfully tolerate about 4 days of juices and non fat milk shakes. I was getting tired of the same juices and shakes, and tried tomato juice yesterday and that ended up being a mistake. I seem to be having a new twist. Now not only am I having pain that I was associating with my system struggling to move things along, but I think I am having lining of the stomach problems. I started feeling inflamation problems yesterday which any kind of stress or upset is making worse. I am not sure how to address that. Everything I put in my mouth after the tomato juice was making it worse yesterday and having an empty stomach is making it worse. All I can think of is to try gingerale instead of juices today and hope it resolves quickly. I don't understand it because even a milk shake made it worse yesterday, which you would think would be soothing. I suppose I could try Maalox or something, but I hope that won't make it worse. Back to the drawing board. :-) Adam
Guest guest
Adam, Tomatoes are highly acidic so it make sense that you would have a problem with the tomato juice. This is going to sound rather weird, but has anyone ever heard of adult using baby formula? The reason I am asking is because when my daughter was a baby, she had horrible projectile vomiting and the only thing she could keep down was a powdered formula mixed with water called nitramigen. We were told at the time that she most likely had a virus that had attached the lining of the stomach and intestines. The nitramigen is pre-digested and easier on the stomach. I'm sure it wouldn't be complete nutrition for an adult, but it might be something to consider trying until things have calmed down a bit. Just a thought. adamm4321 wrote: >Hi, > >Good morning. :-) Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Saturday >is always a day I look forward to how about everyone else? I've been told that the calcium in milk stimulates stomach acid. Thus milk is not recommended for ulcer patients, for example, though I realize you do not have ulcers. No need to reply, Adam, just a thought. Barbara
Guest guest
Adam Ginger ale might be a good choice right now. I always use small pieces of crystallized ginger to settle my stomach. It is amazing how such a small pieces can make such a difference. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Sat, 02 Oct 2004 10:57:38 -0000 > To: > Subject: Motility problems weren't bad enough, now inflamed stomach? > > Hi, > > Good morning. :-) Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Guest guest
Cabbage juice helps a lot (1/2 cabbage, 1 carrot, and 2 celery sticks in a juicer) to improve ulcers and preulcers. As much as the pain can hurt (feels like a heart attack sometimes for me), they do subside a bit, if you can avoid aspirin and aspirin-like products for a while. I've had an EGD, which found a gastric ulcer and many pre-ulcers. I have another scheduled. I went on Prevacid which seems to help a lot, pain is greatly reduced and I don't have to watch my diet. I also drank 8 - 12 oz. of cabbage juice (as listed above) each day for a week to reduce the pain. I hate to say this, but if it bothers you that much, maybe you should find a different gastro you feel free to call. Take care, RH > Hi, > > Good morning. :-) Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Saturday > is always a day I look forward to how about everyone else? Guest guest
Hi RH, Yes, I was just thinking of cabbage juice the other day. I have tried that in the past and was helped by it. Thanks for the reminder. I also haven't taken any medication except my synthroid which I have to take since I was home from the hospital. I rarely use aspirin or aspirin like products. Maybe once every two years.?? LOL I am not sure if the pain killer I had in the hospital had any in it. What is an EGD?
