I thought I was reading my own post . This is exactly how I

felt, followed late the next day by flulike symptoms - fever, chills,

muscleaches and weakness. The redness started almost 3 days later and I

couln't feel the knot until the pain and tenderness subsided a bit. It

hurts no matter which side you nurse on - funny I never felt a letdown

with Sam til I had this mastitis. I'm on antibiotics ansd thingd are

pretty good now.

Thanks,I have heard of the chin thing, but I don't think he would like nursing upside down! LOL!!! Hopefully I did get it unblocked I will just give it a few days to feel better then!

Thanks again

Question about pain

Yesterday morning I woke up and my right breast feels like some one punched me, it is tender to the touch on the inside upper section. There is no knot there or reddness. What could this be??? I posted a question about bras earlier because I was concerned about getting a blocked duct from my bra possibly being 'to' snug. The problem is i like haveing support but can not find a very good bra in my size (my current bra is 38E, and a little snug) If it is a bloked duct, how can you get rid of it, I have tried taking a really hot shower and hand expressing and that made it feel better but only for a few minutes.

Thanks in advance

That brings up another question. I seem to have a very painfull letdown, even before the duct thing. Whenever it gets close to a feeding time and the letdown starts, I have this awefull burning/stinging feeling, it almost feels like they are goinh to explode! the don't get hard/engorged anymore but it sure is painfull. I happened during church yesterday, I am in the chior and in the middle of our song it happened and I thought I was going to cry! It feels like someone is grabbing my breast and squeezing them while they try to turn them 180 degrees! All I can say is ouch!

Has anyone else had a problem with painful letdown, and if so does it ever go away??????????????

It sounds like it probably is a blocked duct. The warm shower and hand expressing works really well. Also, have your baby nurse with his chin pointed to the sore area. Try massaging that area while he's nursing. If you did get it unblocked in the shower it will still be sore for a day or so. That's the way mine was.

I finally found one I love, though. It's made by Fancee Free, and I get mine at a store here in Sacramento. They also sell them at Motherwear (www.motherwear.com) I'm used to wearing an underwire bra, and I was amazed when I finally noticed that the new bra didn't have one at all! I'm an odd size (34 I) so I had a lot of trouble finding one to fit -- but this one is wonderful. Ais Give the Gift of Life Breastfeed!http://www.lactivist.com
