Dr Brent graduated from medical school in 1963. Got his board certification

in plastic surgery in, I think, 1978. After some searching I found that

info on the web.... I notice that he doesn't provide dates on his website.

I was also intrigued to learn that he is an artist (self-taught) and

sculptor....there are a couple of websites with illustrations of his work

and I also ran across a reference to a book he has illustrated. Very

talented man! Makes perfect sense that he is a sculptor -- sculpting ears

and sculpting other objects....

WAAAY behind on this list but wanted to jump in with this as my curiosity

had been aroused by the discussion about Brent's age...

Hi, All! I tried posting this earlier but it didn't go through so I

am trying again....

I am away from home at the moment and don't have a lot of time to

catch up with so many posts, but just wanted to say that one day out

of curiosity about Dr Brent, I looked on the web -- his own site

doesn't provide dates but I found elsewhere that he graduated from

med school in 1963 and was board-certified in 1978 (I think that's

the date).

I also was amazed and intrigued to learn that he is also an artist

who has done many sculptures and also has illustrated a book! There

are photos of some of his works on the web.... A very talented man,

indeed, who sculpts both the human ear and various artistic objects.

Hope this helps!

FYI, there is an animal bench sculpture in the children's section of the SF

Zoo that Dr. Brent did. I think it's a hippo? I asked him why the interest

in sculpture, taxidermy, and building miniatures and the gist of his

response was that anyone who wasn't any good at those delicate arts didn't

have any business trying to build something as complicated as an ear.

his work is breathtakingly beautiful. i've been to the galleries in new york where his works were shown. he's done birds, hands, hippos, some life-size. he's gifted...(i'm biased: i still think my son's ear is his best work!)

the works are VERY expensive!

,

Is it the Discovery Channel or The Learning Channel? I actually spoke

with the folks at the Learning Channel a couple months ago, from the

show called " A Personal Story " . They wanted to do a story on Evan and

his upcoming surgery but they were done filming the season in June and

Evan's surgery isn't until July. She also told me that they had done

stories with Dr. Brent and Dr. Reinisch. She did not know when they

would air however but they are for the upcoming season.

the 'rest of us' who are not able to see it can 'order' a copy of the tape

from whoever is able to tape it!

My parents have a search programmed into their satellite TV receiver to record

this, I'd be happy to send out tapes copies when it is finally played.

Just in case the word " ear " or " brent " doesn't appear in the program

description, when someone knows an exact broadcast date, please let me know.
