Guest guest
In looking for information on UV rays and Lupus, I found some businesses are now advising people to use their "Natural Light" fluorescent bulbs. Unfortunately, they are using outdated research material to substantiate their claims that "Natural Light" bulbs are good for Lupus patients. Early in Lupus research (1930's), it was believed that sunlight was good for the patient. This assumption has been proven to be wrong with the studies and research results from modern and more advanced testing facilities. This outdated information has led to class action suits against companies producing the fluorescent "Natural Light" bulbs for false advertising. Some companies that produce the Full Spectrum lighting provide the medical warning for Lupus patients to not use fluorescent lighting. Instead, they have produced a lens that covers the lighting fixture as well as polycarbonate tube covers that filter out all the harmful UV rays. These lenses and diffusers are an optional feature on mass marketing light fixtures (such as used in large discount stores and grocery stores). These special and more expensive diffusers are usually sold to hospitals, medical facilities, and laboratories. Now they are available to the individual and can be purchased by contacting the lighting companies and inquiring about UV protection lens diffusers.
