Hi JoAnn, I had a terrible flare up where my heels hurt sooooo bad nothing could touch them, ever air hurt it. I had to hobble from my bed to the bathroom on my walker trying not to let the heels touch the ground. I was in absolute agony. While I was in bed I would roll a blanket and put it at the foot of the bed so my ankles were resting on it. This kept my heels off of the mattress. It did finally resolve but took a month or two. It was a very unfortunate thing because this was the first time the RSD spread, from the right leg to the left heel. You can also buy a bed cradle, what that is is a metal frame that goes at the foot of the bed to keep the blankets off of your skin. I have one and it worked great. Try a medical supply store, if they don't have it call a hospital and ask them where they get theirs. Hope this helps, Love Jai
